If I already have Napoleon, Mahmud II and Alexander I, is buying Scharnhorst over John a good idea? I’m not sure, but since I would have 3 singers and Scharnhorst is easier to use than John, I think he would be a better guy. John always John, you get him on discount. I used scharnhorst before. He is really really strong I think that Scharnhorst is better than John, crits can be nice, inspiration is nice, and I bought him as my first gen. I would prefer getting scharnhorst even if John is better to use. I like my artillery against armies and not cities. I for this reason like Scharnhorst more too. But john can be solid at that as well, which is why i think he is a good general. But he can’t crit like scharny |

If Moltke was better, him and Scharnhorst would dominate. Moltke on a Krupp Cannon and Scharnhorst on a Rocket Artillery.

Mountain is not a good terrain skill imo. Mountains are too sparse and thus don’t go well with inf and cavs 1 range. And they cost too much movement to walk through for arts 11 mov. Sure it’s strong when you get to use it, which rarely happens for me because I already struggle enough to have artillery keep up. The double terrain skill is not worth being stuck at moving 2 spaces per turn. |

But,I have never used Scharnhorst I go by stats, so will leave it at that. He is pretty good. Lousy hp is negligible as in ew6 farming the Netherlands is very easy. Plus guess who else starts at 20% hp? Thats right john. The difference between king and prince is not that huge, especially for artillery generals. You can still have lvl 5 skills which is what is the most important. Both are exceptional at fully upgraded. Scharnhorst is a general who will deal more damage than john 70% of the time. You will be on plains all the time, plus he can crit very hard. The battle ability difference between the two in the end is only 7 battle ability which is nothing. It really depends. Scharnhorst is an easier to use and better offensive general. John is good but he is slightly harder to use against regular units. But he does deal more damage to cities. |

We all agree that Scharnhorst and John are amazing Artillery generals. But most of us prefer Scharnhorst because he’s easier to use since you don’t have to be looking for terrains all the time. |

Also Silver, why do you dislike generals that are princes? The difference between Prince and King is low. King means 4% more defense and very slightly more battle ability.
Most of us consider generals below prince bad. Dabrowski is an exception, however, since his Aura is very valuable and with medals it can be at Level 5.
You should first look at the stats, then the skills, then the max title. Which do you value most?
For example, Bernadotte is a general that can reach Emperor, yet he’s worse than Massena. Would you still buy him? Or Lannes?
