Ok, I have Golitsyn in my academy (955 medals) and am considering buying him. I already have 2 cavalry commanders in Ney and Sulkowski. If I buy Golitsyn, would that be a good buy or a waste in which case I should go for another commander such as Dobeln or Yermolov? asking for a friend

Golitsyn is one of the best Cavalry Generals you can get. Sorry to say that but Ney is just meh. His mobility skill is useless.

Charles (Earl grey) is a cheap Cavalry general located in the low tier section. He is quiet good but need a lot of training.

Also, 3 cavalry generals are good, since they're the best units in that game.

Maybe 3 cavarly generals are a bit ridiculous. Golitsyn is really good damage dealer, he is as tough as Lasalle and Radetsky. I think that having two generals with Spy is a bit ridiculous.
I think the princess Sophia or Isabella would be a good replacement for either of the two. But that’s just me. Both Sulkowski and Ney are good at other things as well, such as attacking in rough terrain or attacking cities.

She can do the same thing on Cavalry units and is better on artillery than him and unlocking her is not that hard. Sulkowski on the other hand is solid. Strike, spy + Trainer

The skill combo of Strike and Suprise is very effective in Ew4 only 6 generals have that combination (Lan, Dombrowski, Radetzky, Berthier,Lasalle and Golitsyn) these are the best Generals of the Game.

3 cavalry generals ftw. Then get Isabela. But the problem is that you won't have any slots to upgrade your stats. But i'd say 3 cavalry generals is still good, they'll suck at some campaigns tho, but overall, a viable strategy.

I don't really plan to spend any money on EW4 so there is a certain number of Gens I would have and the rest would be trainers

Sulkowski will be like junot or like Sakurako when attacking non city units. Which is very good. I agree, Sophia can do anything Ney can on top of being very good on artillery
