The reason why I think it's crap is there is those enemy factions/models that are unplayable (The Soviet one in particular). If there was a idea, then someone could mod GoG2 to allow you to be on the opposite side of the campaign. It was like a worse version of ew5 for me. I would rather play it than gog2

ngl ace is pretty good, it's different enough from other easytech games that it stands out i haven't bought any medals so i dont have any elite units, i just grinded real hard, i started playing 2018 i think and i stopped playing 2019, i stopped at the last mission of antarctica. now 2021 im playing again and currently in alpha-5, grinding as usual. biggest downside is definitely no conquest, that's real bad. they could've at least just have 4 playable "countries" which in lore should be you, your ally, the enemy and probably some rebel faction.
the story was meh but it became interesting as soon as i came to antarctica, units were interesting and i like how they finally turned to modern war to future war, for me this was the real Modern War campaign of world conqueror 4

So, I liked EW5 and have played it multiple times, (although as with all ET games, never finishing it ). But the main things about GOG2 that I didn't like were the Generals and the setting. I did not like the far future system at all, so that turned me off, but in my habit of trying all ET games, I did it, and the campaigns weren't bad, and usually campaigns are really the only thing I do, so not having conquests was fine for me. I didn't like the generals, also, the layout was super weird. Also, I thought the Generals would be RL modern Gens like H Norman Schwarzkopf of somethin, so when I saw a random lady with a gun, a random black guy with a gun, and a random white guy with a gun and a monocle I was put off immediately. I would play it if they based it off of a real event or conflict, or even an alternate history, like Korean war starts WW3, I would be fine, but the setting is just bad. I also don't like the multiplayer, when you don't know who you are playing against. For those who say it is P2W, is it literally impossible to win without paying?

Gerd von Rundstedt, yea the generals were pretty meh multiplayer is awk cause it feels like its just vs ai but using player profiles and loadouts against you instead of random loadouts its not really p2w but i think in mp yeah it's p2w, cant really win against someone with all iap units and maxed out generals if you only have normal units and semi maxed out generals in campaign though its not that bad, although you have to really grind daily rewards and invasions to get resources

The most important map later on is Antarctica which is basically filled with heavy IAP players that claimed their Unicorn, other Dragon and in a few rare instances, a Zeus.
AI control of player units is still horrible, especially with higher stakes like the Item you're farming for. It's painful when you lost a PVP battle for items needed to improve your shields because of the AI, especially if you had some advantages. Worse yet, PVP in Antarctica usually does not feature air force so players are more disadvantaged against heavy IAP opponents.
Plus, there's no free unit Antarctica and presumably Alpha and Epsilon, so we'll have to fight high tech Aliens with Shields and mid to late CWE troops.
Overall, the issues for me, a F2P player, lies in balancing and gameplay.

yuanzhong, thoughts on this game? You are one of very few who finished it. 1. It's hard and too p2w. And game resouces income is too little. Most of value upgrade material need medals. 2. The best medals (and expensive shield upgrade) income is tournament but there're many hacker and modder there (you can realize them by having Zeus but no Unicorn). This made f2p player frustrated. Totally, it's a good game (hardest among all ET games I played as a Pay player). But its too harsh environment (even buy material need to wait to buy, lol; can't grind medals but you need it everywhere and your main medals income is just tournament where hackers are waiting for you 😅) makes most of ET newplayers give up. And you can "completely finish" this game only when you're a hard core pay player (at least you need unicorn, mammoth alone isn't enough for sure) because of those stupid auto challenge (your units need recover ability to get 3* - not many units has this ability and most of them are IAPs, and of course you can only find this ability material in Tournament... Speechless).

Its been awhile since I played this game. I made some progress initially but I never made it far. I want to add my thoughts. I don't feel like my unwillingness to play was due to the gameplay or the difficulty, admittedly I don't think I got to the part where it really gets difficult. There are some core aspects I feel is missing and I agree with some of the thoughts here.
One aspect is the setting. Easytech games are generally based on some historical setting. There are fictional battles at times, but they often have explanations and have historical nations. But GOG2 goes into a full on fictional scenario. I think some basic explanation or story might have helped but we are basically fighting with no explanation whatsoever and I feel like that takes away from the spirit of the game. I recently got into playing Great Conqueror Rome and I think one of the core strengths of the game is the historical setting. I really enjoyed seeing the history and following the story. I could be like "Time to join Caesar in conquering gaul and gaining glory" "I gotta avenge Caesar by defeating his assassins" "Its the epic clash between the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty."
Another thing which ties into the lack of historical setting is the generals. This game lacks the general system the other easytech games has. I recall there are units you can get which has a similar function to generals, but these lack the same connection as generals give. One of the core and exciting things about ET games is figuring which generals to get and improving them. There is also the generals being historical people.

Yeah, I feel the same, the "random future war" setting was quite bad. Maybe with a realistic plot it would have been better. I dropped the game halfway through the third continent.

Like many of those before me had said, the game is too much p2w in compared to other ET games before (and even some come after), also both the PVP and side missions are boring and can be frustrating because they’re merely AI fighting each other, but you’re forced to watch the match/mission with no option for fast forward or quit, not to mention the performance of the AI on your behalf decides your prizes.
On a personal note, the general system of this game betrays both the title and my expectation: instead of making me feel like I’m fighting alongside or commanding a bunch of generals, I find it similar to playing chess with someone, which the units with generals are merely promoted version of the base ones, having a general portrait or a veterancy star makes no difference.
