Is there an all generals analysis thread for EW6 or are there any other threads I should read before starting this game, or is it safe to just dive in?

You should be ok thru American and Canada also probably most of the French campaigns with the free generals saving medals along the way. Then you should consider getting better generals and there's alot a advice later on the subject if you want it,too much sometimes..

Personally I would recommend buying generals with aura skills, for example Massena/Mahmud II. Those generals buff their own attack, as well as the same type of troop around them.

EW6 is really fun at the beginning. Since most of the great advice were given already, i'd say just enjoy yourself. The difficulty of the game can be quite random at times, sometimes the challenge is really easy, then suddenly a really hard challenge just jumps out of the blue. Conquest difficulty is fine:1798 is ez for the 1 star, 2 star and 3 star completion even without gens; 1806 is also easy, but it may require a general or 2 to complete the 1 star conquest, while 2 star and 3 star quests are easily doable without gens ( I recommend Spain for 3 star and Denmark for 2 star); 1812 is hard, requires atleast 4 generals, but can be done with just 2 strong gens. 1 star, 2 star and 3 star conquests are hard, especially for the 3 star conquest, since it's annoying and a lot of micromanaging is needed; 1815 is a nightmare, need around 7 strong gens to advance if you are choosing a nation in mainland Europe. There are some guides to help for 1812 and 1815 conquest, so there's that. Campaigns are generally easy except for the last 2 ones, the Valencia uprising is considered the hardest campaign level, until lately of course. Roman Unification is uniform in difficulty, since all of the levels are difficult.. Challenges are relatively easy, except for Spain, Hundred years war and Crimean war. Spain starts easy then gets hard, then gets easy again. Hundred years war is moderately difficult, and stays that way until the end. Crimean war is a fun fest, and by fun i mean pain in the a**. As for IAP, all are worth it, but of course not all IAP are created equal. Blucher is the best, followed by Napoleon, followed by Wellesley. As for units, cavalry is still the strongest, although the victory rush skill, the skill that allows to move or attack after killing a unit or destroying a city, is based on a percentage, so they aren't as reliable in solo capturing stationed cities. Infantry is the best overall unit in the game: they can siege well, they can kill units well, they can form a wall to protect your artillery, and they can be quite mobile. The disadvantage of infantry is that they are good in every area, but do not excel in any of them. They're pretty much the jack-of-all trades unit of the game. Artillery is great at demolishing cities and units such as tanks and armored cars. They suck at killing other units since they have a 25% less damage against other units, except for rockets. They're also pretty slow. In terms of overall usefulness, its Infantry>Cavalry>Artillery. In terms of firepower, it's Cavalry>Artillery>Infantry. I guess that's it for all the other advice that weren't mentioned.

Is there an all generals analysis thread for EW6 or are there any other threads I should read before starting this game, or is it safe to just dive in? I would just dive in. You can farm with the netherlands, so I suggest looking at that guide. Other than that, you really only need to buy aura buff generals (+ 5 damage for surrounding units in 1 range perks). Other than that, it is really straight forward. You can beat up to the ottoman empire campaign, or even further, with the free generals. What I did was save the medals I got from campaign, challenges, and rewards in order to buy new generals, and farm the netherlands repeatedly to upgrade both their health to 50% and their skills to lvl 5 (or as high as possible).

That's pretty much it. Iron Duke,Also buy Wellesley, because it would be a shame to bear his name without him in your game .

It would be a bigger shame not to buy Blucher first.
