Welcome to my guide for Sardinia 1806. This is the hardest 1* conquest in 1806, comparable to Saxony. You do NOT want to challenge this lightly.
Here's a list of things to note first:
1. Achieving a Coalition victory in 1806 requires you to ensure the success of the Coalition Counterattack, aka Russia delpoyment of its forces into its Western Front against the French and her allies in Central Europe and Poland. Hence, the goal is to ensure that the Red Storm will successfully sweep through Europe.
2. Your original territory, the island of Sardinia, will constantly be under siege. Thus, you should expect more defensive than offensive operations to be carried out. As you start as a city state, holding the city is your top priority over everything else.
3. This conquest does not only require high tech lvls, powerful gens and a mind that is good with tactics, you will also need luck to complete this. For me, I had practically fully upgraded tech for all units, plenty of practice to get a good opening and a lot of luck, to make up for my decision not to use my gens.

My strategy:
The strategy to achieve victory is simple - initiate proxy wars everywhere! (And hope your allies survive, counterattack and win.)
As the name suggest, you will NOT be the main participant in the greater war being waged. You will employ the help of your allies to defeat your enemies for you, because you cannot face them yourself.
What to do: On Turn 1, declare war on Saxony, the Rhine and Poland. The Netherlands and Denmark is optional, but I have always left the Scandinavian Gambit alone. DO NOT declare war on Spain, Egypt and Italy preemptively because they WILL attack you and increase the pressure on you more than you can handle.
This sounds insane, opening up more fronts at once and likely dooming Prussia. This sounds bad because if a Germanic Coalition nation falls, the balance of power is completely shifted unless another fills the vacuum. However, from experience playing as Poland and losing, Russia mobilizes very quickly and Poland is likely to be swiftly subdued.
The Rhine and Saxony are naturally weak, but if they contribute to the relentless nd powerful French, Prussia is likely doomed, especially with Poland forming the other side of a pincer attack, right? Not at all, when Poland is defeated, the Russians will quickly sweep in to beat back the Imperial Eagle faction as part of the Coalition counterattack. Trust in the Russians and the Red Storm, because the Russians usually perform very well in their Western Front against France than in the South against the Ottoman.
Sardinian Front: The struggle to survive begins. At the start, I built 2 light artys, upgraded Caligari once, tried to build a Farm and spammed militia sparingly. Attack weak enemies with militia so that they do not take too much dmg. Use weakened militia as blockades to block off the tiles immediately surrounding Caligari. The light arty should be used as both anti-amphibious landing weapons and land blockades to physically prevent the landings of enemy troops.
Using Emmanuel IV and the starting Corvette, I began a daring Grenadier raid of Palma. This raid allows you to partially distract Spain, increase your income and save an ally, namely Morocco and indirectly, Britain.
Results:
The Red Storm has successfully swept into Europe, starting the Coalition counterattack at the cost of Ottoman expansion via the Caucasus (cannot be seen).
Poland, Saxony and the Rhine are doomed.
The Scandinavian Gambit has worked in our favour and Denmark-Norway is suppressed.
The Appennine Gamble's outcome is as expected: Italy attacks us and becomes distracted, allowing the weakened British and Austrians to help Sicily in its invasion of Italy.
The daring raid on Palma was a success and militia is spawned there on alternate turns to ensure the safety of Palma and Caligari. The corvette is still there and is used to sink ant Spanish attempt to recapture the island.
Situation in the Apennine Peninsula & Balkans regions of the Mediterranean.
The war is going well. The Ottoman's tenacity and Egyptian power projection is annoying, but not unexpected because Russia usually gives the Ottoman a free hand here.
The war between Spain and Morocco goes well, allowing us to catch a break and try to expand onto mainland Europe. It's time to make our landing. Beware the threat of the French (and Italy if it still lives) because if Caligari falls, this will basically shatter our economy.
The war in Iberia goes well. With the help of our allies, we expand our empire further. Our allies also enjoy a lot of success against France while the division of Spanish attention has allowed the Moroccans to finally seize Spanish territory.
With the collapse of France, we have the opportunity to successfully invade and occupy Corsica. Using our surplus resources, we can begin building a fleet to sail eastward.
France has fallen. All that's left is Danish-Norwegian Greenland, the Ottoman Empire's territories outside of the Balkans, French Portugal and Egypt.
By now, the Austrians and Sicilians would have tried to fight back against the Ottoman and Egyptian forces, winning victories in the Balkans and sweeping through Ukraine into the Caucasus.
Our goal is to try to land in Libya and march towards Egypt. We have to work with the Sicilians to successfully conquer Egypt.
In the Iberian Peninsula, we can ride on the literal wave of success and sweep through the Imperial Eagle remnants. Try to conquer a coastal city facing the Atlantic so that a fleet can be raised to sail towards Greenland.
Key remaining enemies:
Imperial Eagle remnants in Iberia.
Remnants of Denmark-Norway in Greenland.
Ottoman remnants in the Caucasus, Turkey, Middle East and Arabian Peninsula.
Egypt.
The Atlantic fleet arrives to find Denmark-Norway defeated.
Egypt is finally conquered.
The Ottoman are cornered, but take care to ensure that there are no salients behind Coalition frontlines.
Nothing we can do about the Ottoman holdouts because we can only occupy a few frontline tiles.
Ultimate victory! You have participated in the Napoleonic Wars as one of the most disadvantaged belligerents and have emerged victorious, rejoice!
