Unfortunately, very often in history a welfare of today is a direct result of crimes of yesterday. But all this was possible exactly because they were very good at oppressing others. Fate of Carthage is only one example.

Scholars say Etruscans were very cultural and learned people and Samnites were brave warriors. Unfortunately, we know very little of them because Romans were quite enterprising even before Rome was a regional power
