Due, to my incapacity to win levels in the campaign, I tried to do conquest, most of them were unsuccessful, too long, or even boring at some point. I, so, decided to grind medals for item like the golden spear, I didn't know it was for Marshall rank gen, so I grind again. I can't win medals in any other way than this. How can I have fun while playing once again? Maybe (it's my depression hitting me hard someday like now

Conquest are boring if you own the half map; Campaigns are depressing after the third try. But sometimes I have an Idea to switch some items and it does fun again. I'm hoping for a new conquest with more northern states.

I agree that the difficulty of GCR can be challenging. Maybe try different tactics, change gen lineup, or swapping items might help. If you are stuck in campaign, try the following check list questions... - Is your troop upgrade in senate mode maxed out? - Do you have all generals to fill in the seats (doesn't have to be Hunnibal, dudes like Pacorus or Drusus are fine)? - Do you have equipment (pompeii gradius or crossbow is sufficient) for all of your gen? If your answer is not 'yes to all,' then you know what to do. Anyway, if you feel that the game is too hard and you are suffering in the process, you can always share your experience with jamesyang (here: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/11705/feedback-survey-gcr-wc4-ew6) so that ET can make use of your opinion for developing the next games (and hopefully add something to help in GCR too).

I have been doing this ever since EW4 to make conquest more bearable. Try to make a story in your head, maybe there is a big battle somewhere, you can roleplay and have (In very dramatic language) The city of [City name] Kept on changing hands in a massive battle, or sometimes I upgrade a city and make a doomstack to have just a bit of fun.

How can I have fun while playing once again? Maybe (it's my depression hitting me hard someday like now You almost have the same situation as me. The difference is just i dont go for item but gens. So the first, if you are only can play conquests, play a easy (3star country) like carthage in punic wars. Then analyze the attacks of the ai (easy) then think of an attack plan. You are able to win a country fast (fastest maybe 3star) because ai will mostly attack units, not always attack cities. If you are playing 1-2 star country, prioritize population (make it peaceful/defensive) while attacking your main units or steal cities. Also, you will need to spam maybe heavy cavalry to wreck cities, and watch out for your gens (the given one and your gens) and if they has low health then put it on a military camp (most usable) and replenish it. Lastly, analyze the location of the country you are picking, and the direction of the ai. Each conquest has the same ai attack/defense route. well, you can say this is useless, but grinding medals is fun. The problem is you can only acquire the medal reward in a country once, so try diff. nations. Well, that is only i could say.

Ah I also do this 'roleplaying' in Conquests, and it's very fun for me, though a little boring if the enemy doesn't spawn units and just sat there waiting to be killed (happened to me playing Rome in Rome and Han, I even thought of declaring war against all of my allies but decided against it since they're mostly just a wrecked from the Han and Parthian assaults)...

all these opinions are making me too scared to start discovering GCR xD Please do not be to discouraged. This GCR is also one of my fav titles from ET. IMO, I see many improvements in many area, e.g. balancing, campaign design, etc... But the main issues that many players face are the facts that the difficulty rises too fast and missions gives minuscule amount of medals at the early stage of game. Then they are stuck. So, you'd better be prepared, instead of scared.

Well wc4 has an easier grind from what I'm seeing Lol. Not really. I maxed 99% in GCR but just about 85% in WC4. GCR is easier to farm medals than WC4

Perhaps I'll try GCR out when its mods are released with unlimited medals, that way I can get my feet wet and see whether I shall actually pursue it
