Obviously hitter was an idiot. He wanted to dig into trenches after pushing through the Low Countries but his general decided to push on anyways. And of course, there's Russia.

He stopped in front of Dünkirchen because he wanted to see if his generals would follow orders because during Fall Gelb and Fall Rot they partially ignored his orders. Eventhough successful with what they made Hitler wanted to show he's the commander
