What didn't you understand about the guide? Farming medals can be done by just playing Conquest but it won't be fast. I believe one of our members is fond of Prussia as he usually gets 125 medals from it.

I dont understand the point of killing austria and then making a huge wall in the middle of europe. Wouldn't it be easier to just conquer everything, accept the ottomans, and then just farm, or maybe just let austria and prussia hold out against the french, while you grind in turkey. Plus, what does using your generals to kill the enemy help with And how do you earn medals when grinding?

The farming guide shows a faster way by just defending. Second question: Austria and Prussia will probably lose against France. You want to kill the enemies with your generals so that your generals get experience and nobility. You will earn random medals while playing. So by killing enemies over and over again, you earn more medals.

You earn medals if you fight enemies. It's just a random chance.

I'm the one that likes using Prussia in 1809 mostly and the lowest number of medals I've gotten was 128,the highest 176,the "usual" is in the 160's. It takes an avg. of 80 rounds though so may not be for the impatient. I found the more you conquer seems to have some correlation and that includes land area. Also artillery garners more medals than anything else.
I have doubts though, that it can be done with just one general of your own. You get 6 but only 2 are good from the start (Blucher/Scharnhorst).
I like Prussia 1806 too but,it's harder and you get fewer Generals. The medals count isn't as good either.
I also like Poland 1798,just finished one with a total of 128 medals.

This is based on what I understand, "the point of killing austria" This is to 1) obtain resources from their cities so that you can set up your farm easier. 2) More importantly, this prevents your allies, esp Austria, from messing around. "making a huge wall in the middle of europe." Since France will eventually conquer the other half of Europe, their troops will be running into your wall. You will receive some medal from the clash of French troops and your wall, which occurs automatically. "maybe just let austria and prussia hold out against the french" This prevents the French troop from running into your wall. "while you grind in turkey" "what does using your generals to kill the enemy help" These things need to be done manually. It also gives you additional medals and, more importantly, it improves your generals' rank and nobility.

Hey scottso i actually just finished a conquest with Prussia in 1809 took me between 85-95 rounds, and i only got 80ish medals I wondering why that happens. I don't have a definitive answer, there could be a few reasons. One could be that you only have one general to add(?). I have 4 and use them all,it's the main reason I use this game,so I can level them all at the same time. Another may be your Achievement rank (see pic),it seems to have a direct correlation to many things. For example,I've noticed as mine gets higher my injured troops regen faster, especially when put in a city etc. Of course the level of the city, port etc. also has an effect on regen rates. My generals. There may even be some effect from each generals level (arrows)? I don't know for sure or if anyone else has tested that. Now you'll probably want more generals? Don't buy just any one though like I did at first (BIG mistake and waste of medals),do some research first. There are threads for each type with some good tables to help guide your selections. I am going with only 4 generals because I refuse to give EasyTech one red cent (why is another story). I have chosen to go with 2 artillery (Sophia & Jourdan) and 2 cav. Generals. I plan to get Golitsyn soon but first I plan on buying movement trainers and immediately regroup them into my arty. generals. Then find artillery trainers to do the same. All that is after I accumulate more medals,I have close to 2900 ATM and should have more than enough for my plans soon. In the linked thread I posted my starting strategy for the conquest. Maybe it will help too? european-war-4.boards.net/thread/729/1809

Farming is farming, not much to teach. It's more a matter of perseverance and repetition. It's taken quite some time to save so many and at the same time not using any for items. I set a goal of 3000 before using any for the plan I have to "upgrade" the 2 generals I plan on keeping. Another plus to it is the level of the ones I will be regrouping to open the 4th slot.
