The thing with prince leopold is that he really starts off with only 2 great skills (crit skill being just good). Ivanov and Hindeberg start off with 3 (arguably 4 for both as inspiration and alert on artillery are arguably good). Hotzendorf has 4. By the time you have need of Leopold, you will have a full arsenal. This guy is just ok, but common you can do better. Save your textbooks!

He can now do normal dmg of 190 in la.

The Prince Leopold I recognize is the guy Bismarck told to grab the Spanish throne after a coup happened down there. I dare you, DARE YOU, to guess what happened next. Leopold was forced to abandon the throne by French demands, and a French ultimatum against Prussia to promise to never put a king in Spain caused the Franco-Prussian War These two Leopolds are different though, this Prinz Leopold is the son of the Bavarian regent, another Leopold. While the Leopold Bismarck sent was Prinz Leopold of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, older brother of King Carol I of Romania (The Carol in EW6 1914) and father of Ferdinand I of Romania. I know its confusing, but its Germany, what do you expect?

At least he is very fast to ennoble and you don’t have to stare at that obnoxious arrow telling you to ennoble him to King (Arguably bad idea because King is so expensive yet offers far less than Prince). I’m serious, it’s really annoying when you don’t want to ennoble a general past Prince that can reach King or Emperor. Every time you want to see his stats, there is that arrow telling you that you can ennoble him, and the game pretty much mocks you when you see that you don’t have the resources to do so, or don’t even want to do that. Friedrich “Fried Rice” Paulus , there we go. Now feel free to dismiss this, I know that pretty much everyone that gets the other artillery generals has the patience to grind conquests to ennoble them past Prince. Which is a waste of resources as the next titles are very overpriced.

If you need a general to match your description, radko dimitriev is only duke but has a way better skill set and hotzendorf starts out better. Prince Leopold is an incredible mix of weak and slow to seem a good general. You have vazov, putnik, radko dimitriev, and hotzendorf who can meet that quality while also over archieving in comparison to leopold

No need to get him for History Mode if you already have Ivanov. Agree about the history mode, but even though Dmitry is only duke, he has the best skillset starting out, even when compared to ivanov and besseler. He’ll still have fantastic output. He in reality is the dabrowski of this game as his skillset can be potentially made very powerful. Hindenberg has a much worse skill set. But its still kind of redeemable with jungle and mf/tactics. The issue is Hindenburg will be much weaker than Radko after 15 textbooks even. You could shove artillery expert and tactics on radko, making him an ivanov lite. But I do see how hindenburg is redeemable for his aura and higher max rank. In comparison to Leopold, Leopold skill set is pretty garbage. He only has 1 ideal skill imo and that is salvo. His only other “good” skill is plain fighting. Best case scenario, you give artillery expert and tactics to leopold and he’ll be a slow but hard hitting general like joffre. The trouble is, you can have better and faster versions of that with hindenburg, hotzendorf, below, vazov, or pretty much every other artillery general in the game as the lowest ranked one is meade who can have lvl 4 skills. He is just so outclassed that he is pretty much irrelevant, as even the free generals are better than him. He and Joffre are the Surena of this game, useless and super expensive.

The best skillset for Arty. Trade Land Fort for Revenge, Tactics Master, or Arty Commander, and he will destroy Anyone, with a high crit rate, Huge Damage, and a ridiculous counterattack. Shame he's capped at prince, but that'll do. Not a Stuka like Hindenberg, a Mosquito like Ivanov, or a Tony like Beseler, he is the SBD Dauntless of Artillery.
