FOW makes sense. Taxman, I don't know what they do, but it doesn't sound all that great.

So basically. A neutral country will ask for a crap ton of money to fight for you. After paying said crap ton of money, they will fight on your side for a few turns and continue to ask for more money. Doesn't matter if they own half the map, they'll ask for more. And if you don't pay up after a few times, they switch sides.

If you are a good player, it seems that you could just invade them if they are small enough. Problem solved, though there could be another big one.

I’m going to read the GCR threads just to see people discussing about them.

It happens randomly, It's COMPLETELY out of your control. Unless you want to uselessly station a bunch of people or their border to kill them when they inevitably strike.

Who thought that would be a good idea? It’s not even a good challenge, it’s just annoying.

Like, imagine playing as the Ottoman Empire in EW6 and Saudi Arabia being a taxman country. A big country can start flanking you from behind out of nowhere while Russia and Austria are knocking at your door.

Actually, you can’t declare war on them, I was wrong.

A big country can start flanking you from behind out of nowhere while Russia and Austria are knocking at your door. That would be better if it wasn't 100% random. The problem is that there really isn't a good way to deal with that nonsense. Either you prepare a force, which is wasteful and a bad way to spend your money when you really need to fight Austria and Russia. Or you let them get the drop on you, which is extremely annoying and can screw up your plans (have to spend a ton of cash on militia and maybe leaving a city vulnerable).
