I used crowd tactics, and while I haven’t noticed a significant increase in damage, it’s still nice when buffing Guderian’s firepower

I gave in crowd tactics which in my opinion is extremely useful. goderian, it maximizes his full potential as a stellar support general with crowd fighting and rumor, as well as being able to offer air cover. Crossfire would be a waste as he was not suited for offensive capabilities in the first place

No worries ahaha, Arnold is the strongest air-support hybrid in the game, with dowding drawing a tie as a resource support

I think I'll go with rumour and explosives.

I mean for crowd tactics to trigger you have to keep your units close by right?

Even if you do move Arnold he won't be really close all the time right?

Even if you do move Arnold he won't be really close all the time right? If its a tough mission I'd imagine a huge wave of enemy units that make progress slow for even your core generals.

Im getting these scenarios often: 1) Guderian & co. need to take an objective city, Arnold can follow to speed up the process and immediately camp in city to regain health and provide air cover against counterattacking enemies 2) When you secure a city most likely it will get ruthlessly besieged. Hence keeping your main generals close by to defend the city will be oftenly what you need to do

For some reason I thought architecture would be a good skill since you can use the city defence to mitigate some of the damage received. But at the same time a strong general can easily crack the defence in a turn. ( I chose architecture because Arnold can be used on any unit so machinist and replacement can go unused.)

A bit out of topic and I apologize. But this is my 230th post! Kommodore Karl Dönitz (a.k.a Colonel Karl Dönitz) reporting!

Great topic I just changed Guderian skill to explosives from cover. Cover would be cool but at only 12% chance to dodge damage its a bit lame. Now Heinz has rumor and explosives. Thanks Karl and Everyone!

Oops I changed my mind. Removed explosives and gave Guderian machinist. Now both him and Teruachi heal tanks and artillery every round. Like having a mobile supply depot for all your armour and big guns. Btween the two of them every tank and gun I have gets around plus 20 hit points a turn already and Ill get both generals to high levels on this skill.

You might face some difficulty in the later parts of the game if you decide to change out his offensive potential, but it's alright if you really want more survivability. Guderian alone can deal a lot of damage on cities even without terrain skills or explosives.

Yeah I misunderstood machinist it only heals the unit of the general not all units of the descript. kind of misleading and I thought of crowd tactics and that skill of Bagramyan's that heals fortifications. I tested machinist in battle to discover this. oh well.
