In reality, I'm from the U.S. state of Michigan, some facts about us:
Our roads are notoriously bad: When our current governor ran for office, her campaign slogan was: 'Fix the damn roads' (her words not mine) Potholes are the subject of many jokes here
We border 4 of the 5 Great Lakes (a point of pride for us)
You're never more than 85 miles from a Great Lake here (seriously)
