Also if you put him on guard carvery, he will easily destory any type of fort in your way. Plus strike and spy go perfect together! Strike and Spy don’t work together, but it’s a still a good combination for a variable role. Strike instead of Surprise is the reason he doesn’t deal Murat’s record damage against forts because strike has no effect on them. Therefor he is better against cities and all units with evasion than the posterboy. Since you will face more units than forts I prefer Sulkowski’s compromise over Murat’s specialization. Sophia does both

So i will do about 10 more second tier generals then move on to the goats first tier. Thats because there are many many generals that don’t stand out, and probably don’t even make the orange tier. Those generals will either be super bad or just don’t stand out whatsover. For example, Kleist.

Well maybe junot isn’t that bad of a starting general if you give him a horseshoe, and use him on heavy cavarly till then. But dumouriez is still a trainer and charles is an improved version of him so he still is pretty bad.

Dumo is a recommended trainer and Charles is one of the better Tier 1 gens. Don't do Junot

You may also want to a list of recommended tier one trainers, either because they're cheap (Elphinstone) or they can be viable until you get better gens (such as Kutaisov)

The fact that he's a trainer can be helpful later in the game as well Yes, once you get Lan and you have Sophia and Isabella. Or even Sakurako if you have more than 4 slots. He is essentially 4x times as good as Junot for twice the price, 2x as he is a trainer, and the 2x because he offers many significant improvements on Junot.

Gonna go out on a limb and say its called European War 4 (with America thrown it bc why not?) for a reason

SoultPrice: 6 Emblems Starting Movement: 3 hexes on light infantry, 2 on every other infantry. 2 hexes on all artillery units. Soult is a decent iap. He is pretty good on infantry, and also not too shabby on artillery. But even though he is good, he is not great enough to purchase. His bad movement and infantry trainer skill is enough to discourage anyone from buying him. If Soult had Engineering instead of Infantry trainer he might be one of the better generals out there

If Soult had Engineering instead of Infantry trainer he might be one of the better generals out there Or leadership. I would rather him have geography, due to him fighting in Spain. Or spy due to Spain spawning forts in the conquest.

If Soult had Geography he'd have the same issue Lannes has, as Geography is useless on infantry units (on artillery it would be great but not infantry). Spy makes sense but I'll take a commander with +2 movement right from the start with a skill (the warhorse makes more sense as an overall buy compared to the horse artillery), OR a commander who cannot be flanked and is immune to cav charges

I think a Artillery general with seige, geography and spy would be perfect for offensive roles.
