I started this thread to collect the knowledge we have about the AI behavior - this needs YOUR help! Add yor findings and comments - I will update tuhe first two posts continually.
Draft; 5.Nov 20
AI don't seem to defend ports - many times you can steal an empty port. AI attack targeting priorities:- Target:Units that can't counterattack (Rockets, Forts in construction, Siege, non Artillery from distance)
- Target: Weakened units
- Target: Artillery ?
- Target: Strongest unit ?
- Target: the rest
AI fighting tactics - AI moves before attacking
- AI don't know morale (flanking)
- AI parks weakened units, weak AI units don't attack with a high risk of being eliminated
- utility defenders without general won't attack if there will be a counterattack (except a few units in mission xxxx)
AI - building priorities:- no troops, if risk of food shortage (forts instead)
- first in utilities that can be occupied by normal units ( For discussion: Imo AI don't count extra movement by generals.)
- somehow random:
- although AI don't collect resources, AI doesn't build always the best possible unit. - AI don't know trading
- AI builds coastal forts correctly only at the coast.
- the position of forts seems ramdom, except thay AI don't place forts next to each other
1806 Russia, Prussia: Infantry 1815 Ottoman: ... This is a start ... to be continued ... ... corrections and additions welcome!

[ ... ] Well we could make a preferences theard. We could also do one about strategy which is basically the chance of AI creating this unit. I am really curious for your findings!

ππ³π°π΅π΄π¬πΊ, sadly I can't find the tatics of the AI in ew4. But I have good news though because I found out how to change names of Terrain thanks to Erebus!

Is there really a program specifically named "tactics"? Based on the collective past experience, AI targets forts first, especially if the fort is under construction. Afterwards, it's likely that it either guns after the strongest or most vulnerable aka the unit with the least HP. Then, for 1806, the Coalition, especially Russia and Prussia likes to spam inf while the Ottoman becomes the spammer in 1815.

Sorry Nobunaga Oda, the file is named "Strategy" I knew before what file it was but lost buliding other mods. I found the wc4 and it tells everything the AI does. Even the chances or spawning units!

So this is really interesting for the wc4 board! Yes Nobunaga Oda I will try to collect this informations: AI attack targeting priorities:- Target:Units that can't counterattack (Rockets, Forts in construction, Siege, non Artillery from distance) - Non General building defenders don't attack if there will be a counterattack - weak AI units don't attack when high risk of being eliminated - Target: Weakened units - Target: Artillery ? - Target: Strongest unit ? - Target: the rest AI - building priorities:- no troops if risk of food shortage (Forts instead) 1806 Russia, Prussia: Infantry 1815 Ottoman: ... ... to be continued ... ... corrections and additions welcome!

ππ³π°π΅π΄π¬πΊ, the file I was looking for was actually the wc3 one. The AI doesn't really have a plan but I believe they do like a Emergence factor to defeat players. Like a ant colony.

The blt files are used to store images for the unit or item. The ones for hex are most likely chances of the item or unit appearing. (I can now do mediafire!)
