Nice of them to have put this in the very first mission of one of the opening campaigns.
Here is what I am doing right now; adjust for your own needs.
Using Radetzky, I kill Davout in Verdun. Sometimes this fails; in that case restart. Then I put Kutaisov into the light infantry near Radetzky and occupy Verdun. This gives me nobility for occupying the town and maybe the burned out farm he passes by.
With Kutaisov, I attack and wound the enemy artillery east of Verdun. Then I move Radetzky down to kill it.
Once this is done, I put Arnold into the infantry unit in Brussels. He is adjacent to a weak enemy infantry which, with Arnold's stars, is a guaranteed one shot kill.
This primarily gives three kills to help recyle the academy, but you get a bit of nobility and sometimes a few medals thrown in.

No, any sort of grinding is very difficult for me to do. I just don't have the patience. I do have a scenario where Lan is facing two weak generals which I saved and use when she is only a few medals from advancement. But after doing it 5~10 times, I get fed up.

I understand; I can't go on doing it endlessly all day either. But if there's something I'm watching or listening to, which I can keep an ear on while I mindlessly push the buttons over and over again, it makes it much more bearable.
