Hello all. I have heard some reports that WC5 is about to come out but I've also heard some people say here that Easytech is no longer likely to make a WC5 because they can't feature China in it or something? Please help. I am confused.

Hello all. I have heard some reports that WC5 is about to come out but I've also heard some people say here that Easytech is no longer likely to make a WC5 because they can't feature China in it or something? Please help. I am confused. Until ET has made an official statement, don't think too much about it. For the 1st comment, it's because we are expecting a new game soon and there are fans of the WC series. That's why there are posts expressing their hope for the new game to be WC5, especially since it should be the next title based on ET's past behaviour. For the 2nd comment, it concerns WC usually being set in WW2 and the CW as well as potential issues in developing games concerning late-Qing China and beyond.

I think something ET could do in a future WC game is to add a map/stage editor, that way we can put China in the game so ET doesn't have to they can encourage creativity and possibly cut down on pirating, as well as encourage modding without physically breaking the game. No idea how to implement it though.

No idea how to implement it though. I was thinking they could take one of the modded games and turn it into WC5. Though I don't know if China would throw a tantrum over that or not. Maybe just rename China altogether? Though personally I'd like to see a modern day version of WC.

I don't think China's gonna get too triggered seeing themselves on a conquest map, but certain scenario levels might not be great.

Seeing as how WC4 became controversial and China had to be cut out despite being limited to Conquests, I think ET may tread carefully with any future games.

Why was WC4 so controversial? IDK, The communist government was offended or something Huh. I’m a Westerner so perhaps it’s due to a potential limited view, but WC4 does not take a stance other than the Nazis=bad. In fact the Modern War scenarios have the West betray the USSR, who you play as in the end.

Something about China being under republican control in 1939 and 1943 and Taiwan being independent/able to reconquer China due to player action

If it brings a larger player-base and more competition then EasyTech should just make Taiwan communist and buff Japan; it would make no difference. Having two different Chinas fight Japan in WW2 would be interesting; to my knowledge that’s what happened irl.
