in the forum a lot of discussions and calculations have been made about skills. the ultimate goal is to find the hypothetical perfect combination for each type of unit.
I don’t have the final answer for each role and I’ll try to regroup here all the useful info found in the forum.
ARTILLERY:
According to jonblend experiments and calculus, the strongest and best skills are:
1) Art expert. It will increase the total damage (after all other bonuses!) by 15,63% at lvl 5, with the medal adding another 3,12% total damage into a lvl 6 damage multiplier of 18,75% .
2) tactic master. This is an even better skill because it is basically a 20-25% chance to attack again (like a +20-25% damage on average, precisely a 20-25% chance to increase damage by 100%) and this have even the vantage to choose if change enemy to hit and even moving if you didnt move before attack. Considering that art can get hit back only from other art or navy or forts, it’s must have for Art
3) salvo. Simply to get why, but in my opinion this skill is weaker on art than on other units cause the base damage is yet pretty hight, so its better to have some sort of multiplier. Still one of the best skills to have.
4) mountain/jungle skill. Increase the hight attack of the Art is sure pretty strong and its very nice that you can move more in the map. That’s why this 2 are probably better than plan fight even if plan is more common in the map. In my opinion one of your generals can still take plan fight. I have 4 art gen; 1 have mountain, 1 have forest and 1 have plain. I still have to choose what to put on hindenburg instead of land fort.
5) for the last skill, jonblend suggest to put art commander to all gen. In my opinion is a solid skill to have in at least 1-2 generals, but the others 1-2 can pick another skill between: pierce, another terrain bonus, dogfight (i personally like this) .
CAVALRY
1) surprise is a must have. At lvl 5 it will increase the total (?) damage like that:
No moving= +8% damage
1 hexagon moved = 12%
2 = 14%
3= 16%
4= 18%
5+= +20%
Now, I agree with kanue who consider must have:
2) art exp
3) precision strike
4) jungle (i have plan on one of my general cause too often there is a plan space to fight which is good for cav. specially when there are 1-2 others cav generals near.
5) For 5th skill, at least 1 of them should go for cav commander. The others can take one from:
Tactic master, edge, pierce, def formation.
INFANTRY
to be honest i have many dubs for infantry skills.
1) assault great skill for al units, probably best efficent on inf.
2) ambush. There are many different opinion about this skill. Personally i appreciate that a lot. Inf aren’t made for making tones of damage like others units and lack a lot on survability. Using a little cheat, u can make it proc almost all times as Torvesta noticed while attacking (still 20% when getting attacked). Just fast pause and quit the game if u see enemy unit respond to attack.
3) terrain bonus skill. Plan for everyone but old guard/HMG
Here my dubs starts cause except for inf commander to 1-2 generals, i dont know what is better.
Inf expert adds only about 5,5% damage and inf damage isnt even that hight. Tactic master....i’m not an huge fan of TM on inf, but can be tactical usefull. Pierce? Intercept? Def form?
NAVY
1) alert = 25% less damage from other navy and art, maybe even from forts. Yes pls, probably best skill.
2) line of battle
3) escort/navy commander (i gave 1 to betty and the other to hipper)
4) TM i like this skill a lot on navy, right after art. Against other navy your general can make a big impact and setime destroy 1-2 navy taking often no damage back. Against terrain units or carries its a free attack with no damage back
5) gunsight master adds about 8,6% damage. Not bad, its my personal 5th skill to go for. Other players consider pierce as well, it can be good, but i think that the first skill is better even if i dont have the precise numbers. For sure against hight armor enemy pierce is wronger.
Can’t find other good options for navy general.
Pls help me complete/correct this final guide to the best skill set. In my opinion we should then update the library cause I think it don’t show the true best skills but ofc is the more visible thread.
