The war in Europe ensured the domination in land, while the pacific theatre ensured the domination in sea, Had the Japanese put up to being an even larger threat than Germany, American focus would have shifted to Japan Which do you think is the most important battle in the Pacific front and why? Definitely Midway since it culminated in the loss of much needed aircraft and experienced aircrew and well we can never forget the carriers But if there was something else that could have also been important is The Doolittle raid since it provided the much needed Boosted morale that the americans were hoping but The Chinese had to put up with the consequences of it though One thing important too was the battle of the coral sea, Had the Americans lost it Australia would have succumbed to the japs |

If the Japanese had won midway and a couple more morale devastating battles american morale would plummet to an absolute breaking point and the people would get mad at Roosevelt and sign some sort of peace treaty or an armistice That's what the Japanese failed to do in our timeline |
