I finished first 6 campaigns and now doing the 7. one. I gained all the achievements for all years in normal conquest. I have Robert E. Lee, Herbert Plummer, Moltke, Stonewall Jackson, Beseler, Ivanov, Hipper, Ulysses S. Grant, Andrey Selivanov, Max Loof, Cobanli,Philip Sheridan,David Farragut. Stonewall Jackson and Beseler are fully upgraded and they are absolute beasts. The problem is,the other generals such as Ivanov,Hipper and Plummer don't have many upgrades and they really fall apart from Jackson and Beseler in terms of combat efficiency. My tech isn't that great,I'm both trying to upgrade my tech and upgrade my generals but the progress is really slow.It was good when I was getting the achievement rewards for conquests but now it is really hard to get any progress.I have tried the first history mode but It was really hard to me since I have no generals fitting for it,I get absolutely crashed by the union. Any advice for progressing?I also tried conquest challenges but I regretted my decision really fast...

I'd advise against investing in your tech since the enemy will always have more advanced tech than you in the conquest challenges. It might not hurt you as much but your allies could be devastated.

Wait,If I upgrade my tech,my allies get weaker tech or what?I didn't get the point of that. Also is this a thing for conquest challenges or normal conquests works as the same way?

Also, since it is a sure that the enemy's tech is of your level, your allies will be less.

So then what is the point of upgrading tech even?

Ryshad Tathel, try the campaign challenge mode. They give you a lot of gold and are an easy source of medals and textbooks.. Also, the missions are a good source if your generals match.

Any advice for progressing?I also tried conquest challenges but I regretted my decision really fast... The first history mode campaign "Battle of Gettysburg" is the most difficult. The US generals are among the weakest in the game and are not worth upgrading. The enemy AI is hell bent to kill your generals. I cheated big time to complete it (using double attack items at start of every turn and swapping to double healing items at end of every turn plus disbanding near dead generals). March to the Sea is easier. Skip Battle of Gettysburg and try Austro-Prussian War and Cuban War. They are the easiest and best for farming coins and books/silver medals. Buy MacArthur and Falkenhausen (if needed). They cost coins only.
Try tackling campaign challenges if you have not done so. The first 6 campaign challenges are pretty easy. The most difficult ones are in chapter 7 and 8.
You need more top tier cav and art generals for conquest challenges.

It is still a very good decision for you to get tech. Your allies will be devastated anyway (having done a no-tech run)

I'm doing a re-run of Ew6 1914, and I don't think upgrading tech isn't that bad after all. Yes its an annoyance in challenge conquests, but you really need to invest in tech or else you'll die in campaigns which adjust their tech levels to that of the last campaign's techs.
