Rules:
1. You have 5 types of citizens: Farmer, soldiers, lumberjacks, blacksmiths, and civilians. All citizens but farmers need food to survive. Lumberjacks and blacksmiths need 2 each, civilians need 1, and soldiers need 4. Farmers make 5 food a day. Wood from lumberjacks are used to make barracks, which are used to create soldiers. Blacksmiths make the iron needed for cannons. Wood and iron can be used together to create ships.
2. Battles will be detailed events. The person starting combat must state they're objective (defeat company, attack city, etc...) and begn their turn. The people involved will take turns going back and forth till one side wins. Retreat is an acceptable option. Certain troops will have an advantage on others, and different terrain/weather will give certain countries buffs and debuffs.

So how do we decide the population and the composition?

I'm doing it based on history, but I may reduce it by a factor of 100 ddue to size. Looking at France, what do you think?

Countries: France(and colonies 1800) Farmers: 7 million. Soldiers: 5 million. civilians: 12 million. Lumberjacks: 2.5 million. Blacksmiths: 2.5 million.
Nice. But I feel that it must be in 100s. Like 700 farmers, 500 soldier... Casualties and costs too must be in 100

How about power balance? Infantry = 1, cavalry/airforce = 2 Artillery = 2? I mean something like that to determine battles.
