I'm a little lost on what to do with my medals at the moment, I'm contemplating about buying Li Shimin, save up to upgrade my existing gens, or to save up for Blucher and Nelson. My main generals(4th era) are: Attila, Nobunaga, Barbarossa, Alexander, Lincoln, Mocty, Jhansi, and Catherine, I'm a third of the way to upgrading to gunpowder and I'm stuck on Aztec 2nd in discovery age.

Which com? If you are going ArchCom then definitely Nelson.

Save for Bluecher (he really is the best in this game, Maybe Caesar, or Li Shimin.

I should add that upgrading Attila's skills is a safe investment, and the same for Barbarossa if you're keeping him.

I'm currently running a mixed team and I have to ask is nelson useful outside of industrial age and arch com? He's the only good longbowman, but I don't like that longbowmen have no bonus against Cav units, and in an MixCom (just made that term up now), the role of an archer is to destroy cavalry, so I would definitely get Li Hongzhang before him, but he has good stats and active, if bad passives.

Running ArchCom means you want both anyway, and Nelson is available earlier (and you can save up for Li in the meantime before Industrial; Li is cheaper so can be obtained in shorter period of time). For MixCom I think Nelson is better because there will be situations where few units can attack the enemy (either because terrain or because regular units), and Nelson will open up that extra damage per turn. I don't find cavalry to be a problem as they all die to my Braveness cav gens and Nobunaga anyway.

Cav has no use, and Archers are only there to defeat cavalry. The rest of melee is done by inf, while Arty does the rest.
