Hey Saltin, I know you've been tagged with a lot of negative stuff, so I figured I would tag you with something more positive. Not really,no, I have not been tagged with lots of negativity. I wonder what made you say that. Tags and/or reports are almost always just very minor themes like someone wanting to know more about something or another or maybe someone objecting to a post because of a particular sensitivity or another or someone liking or disliking an expressed idea or thought. Me and the rest of the staff try to accommodate the person(s) if the request is both reasonable and feasible and if the resolution of such request or that of the tag does not end up causing even more problems than the original issue did in the first place. There is nothing good or bad about it, it's just part of moderation. It's a balancing act and sometimes can be difficult to resolve and still be completely fair but it's almost never viewed as negative. |

Hey Saltin ..<snip>.. I've been wondering for a while now, why did you change accounts? Not many people know of this but since you brought it up I'll tell you, it's a bit comical in sheer naivety so here we go: Originally when the EFC forum was created I didn't want to be an admin or a moderator, the staff function and portion of our site didn't interest me so my regular member account (not the one used to create the forum) had no powers and I only logged on the administrative side when it was absolutely necessary like to add new forum functions or update a theme and so forth. Back then it was pretty much the Wild West in EFC, it was fun but very chaotic. We were a completely open forum that didn't even have any rules other than pb tos, we didn't even have a standing staff at all. That actually worked pretty good up to about a few hundred members and then it became pretty obvious we needed an actual moderator crew that was present and visible because we had too many instances where members were getting upset at each other. So the staff was expended and I started wearing the GMod and then later the Admin hat. Also another factor that made me switch is that some of the proboards folks only communicate with the main admin and none else, so it was just more practical to make the switch to a formal admin role. |

Oh wow, that's pretty cool Saltin. Oh, and the negative comment was just cause I knew at the time you were getting a lot of tags complaining about a member, which I figured wasn't fun. Sorry for any misconceptions. |

Ok I think I see what you are talking about now. Sometimes people just have bad days, or bad week or maybe even a bad year and act out their frustrations or anger on the EFC boards.
It happens.
We still try to give them a break,we still try to be patient, we still try to work with them if they let us. Most people will eventually just get the bad stuff over with, move on and successfully make the transition to the "normal".
To give you a rough idea atm EFC has about 11k registered members and we only have like maybe 4 or 5 on Warning Watch and maybe 2 on Ban Watch. "Watch" here just means the staff is paying closer attention to certain behaviors.
I think most people understand that in the end it's only fun if we as as group want it to be fun and that we are willing to make an effort to keep our worse tendencies away.

That's true. I don't usually mind his shenanigans, it's just that I myself have been having a bad week, so it grinded my nerves more than usual.

All right guys, I have been shell shocked by a recent development. Firstly, the author finally writes Buonaparte as Bonaparte (I have reached that stage in my book) and secondly, @heinztheguderian has started a new forum! I was taken aback when he said that. He said that he wanted to do something new (why couldn't he had made an ew4 guide or a newsletter). He just abruptly disturbed me from my break and asked me to put his message here. Forum link - / And he also said that the first 10 members to register will have a surprise. BTW, I know what that surprise is  Who is @heinztheguderian , never saw him active here? He is my friend IRL |
