Who should my gen be for the Pacific War?
I'm thinking Nagumo or Macarthur.
My gens are Guderian plus free for axis, and free only for allies.

MacArthur, Leeb, Rommel and Govorov.
Can't go wrong with this order from here on out. If you really need a navy gen for Axis, Dönitz or Nagumo can be squeezed in between MacArthur and Leeb.

Also, it's really confusing when @vonmanstein77 and Erich von Manstein are in the same thread...

You should know that Nagumo won't be available for 1945 Pacific campaigns as Axis general. So plan your moves accordingly. You need at least 1 "native" general in 1945 because only 5 slots available for others.

I have MacArthur but I tend to agree with Erich von Manstein. For his price you can afford 2 Slims without losing much in performance. Infantry is vulnerable and best used for hit and run tactics. Personal power of Infantry generals isn't that important.

Ok, so here is my new plan.
Macarthur, Rommel, Leeb, Patton.
will that sustain me through?
Reminder that I have Guderian.

In addition, @vonmanstein77, Rommel is actually a pretty good Carrier Gen.

Eventually you need both - Rommel and Guderian. But truth be told one good tank general is more than enough for 1942 campaigns. Leeb or Yamashita are more obvious choices right away.

I made it to Africa with Guderian and Leeb. Now I got Yamashita due to slot issues.
Still have 2,2k saved medals. Now I try to clear more in 42 to get them all and perfect.
Russia 41 is perfect today, so next allied will bei Monty and/or MacArthur.

What about Gerd von Rundstedt? I personally use him as my second heavy tank general. His survivability as a heavy tank commander is second to none. On several occasions he suppressed remaining resistance while my Rommel was long dead. Yet as an Infantry general I prefer Yamashita. The reason is very simple. He is a Japanese general and it gives me a tactical plausibility. We don't have good cheap substitutions for Axis Infantry generals so I think that both can be used, especially in certain missions.

Here are generals available for 1945 Pacific campaigns. Luckily enough many players can use in land battles Guderian as a "native" Pacific general.
