I've been getting back into this game, since college has been slowing down. I have 3000 medals and can, obviously, afford Li Shimin. However, I am also 50 or so literature away from the next era (Discovery). Should I buy him, and get more medals through other means to upgrade my current general line-up, or get Shimin?
Current line-up: Alexander, Attila, Nobunaga, Moctezuma, Barbarossa, and I am literally one gift away from Saladin. Cleo is my go-to siege general, for now.

These are the factors I would consider when deciding whether to buy him or keep the medals for upgrading, but I suspect the fact that both of the options you have laid out are to buy Li Shimin implies that you have a preference to buy him now  |

Probably going to get him, the more I think about it I'd say if you can claw back enough medals to upgrade at least Attila before you get the literature then buy him now, but if you're closer than that it makes sense to wait. |
