hello, after ragequitting 1960 about 6 times, I decided it was time to play EW4. I played Prussia in the earliest year possible, and captured PAris as well as much of France. I've also got militia spam fighting the Ottomans. Any tips for generals, and which thing to max out first? From my observations, fires are more destructive here, and generals are more casually used here, hence the taverns. Any tips for a noob? I've gotten past the siege of Mantua for the French faction, and I think i'm at Return To The Rhine for coalition? It seems like a pretty simple game, and I like how cheap the generals are as well. I havent yet seen any over 1000, while you get rewarded 50 medals per mission.

The cheap generals are traps. You can read the thread free to play, no grinding guide.

Here's my answer - european-war-4.boards.net/thread/14269/get-ew4 I assume that the same applies to you too. Anything else?

DONT SPEND MEDALS FOR THAT. They can be invested elsewhere. I say that don't even buy generals. You can put Princesses on units and play with them. They become the best generals when you train them enough. I say that this is a game where Infantry is not a meatshield and can be used to charge. Infantry is still weak, but OP compared to WC atleast. You probably don't have much (any? Don't know) above 1000 medals generals. But the problem is that you have the academy refresh. Once you finish your academy refreshes, you have to grind till you get 100% to get the next generals. Also, you need to buy slots for more than 4 generals. You still are in the easy part boy The missions will get a lot tougher.

I figured that out not looking forward to HRE or USA

EW4 infantry better defines a meat shield.

Not only for defending - infantry is perfect to finish up enemy units with low health. I am usually not using any infantry general. I am with John Marston, keep all your medals for now. With your first general or princess (better!) you want immediately the war-horse and snair-drum - these two items cost alredy toether between 1160π and 1450π. But don't buy them now without a general ! - Buy them when you got a general, with trading β she will get a discount.

Good damage? Guards or Machine guns. Movement? Agreed. Fast. But still, I usually spam infantry as they can be recruited anywhere. Cavalry? Very less. Artillery? None. And they come in pretty handy. Note that I am talking about conquest, which has a larger map. MI might be useful for its movement. But very less health and you can't even stack them. This makes, atleast health wise, Infantry more useful in EW4. For attack and movement, guards are perfect. For pure damage and low movement, go for Machine guns. Even line infantry do a fine job.

Trotsky has found a brilliant way to get him. Here - european-war-4.boards.net/thread/14184/starting-arnold
