I just finished a 3 Dietz in 10 or so refreshes run. It was just after I bought 2500 medals. I am hoping it is an algorithim in the game designed to get me to spend more medals. π

Regarding switching items, once my generals get to 150/10 I hardly ever switch items. By that time I am doing mostly fun conquests so less pressure to be perfect. Generally I pick 2 good items for the generals but occasionally switch out for tents or napoleanic code. It's a different style of play than obsessively seeking out every minute advantage. True, you only need to swap items to get princesses.

Generally I pick 2 good items for the generals but occasionally switch out for tents or napoleanic code. It's a different style of play than obsessively seeking out every minute advantage. True, you only need to swap items to get princesses. I have to - almost always I never had a second war horse. It is even very late in the campaign offered. I must swap: I prefer cavalary and play 3 cav if useful. Movement is imo the key to be sucessfull in EW4. Before moving, I usually plan my possible next move(s) - without a war horse, I don't have one until now, this is painful slow, for cavalary movement, the war horse is indispensable, or - to be comfortable: Geography is great. But with Arnold Maria Lan Sakurako or Sophia on cavalary, I am forced to switch items. I almost always have to do so, but swapping is really comfortable and fast in ew4. Attacking with two pistols, instead horse and saddle makes a 2β general almost 5β. I don't play much endgame, with my untrained teams, I don't want to loose this bonus for a quick preparation, before I attack - and the next general needs the horse. Once you are used to it, you give the movement items direct to the next general and swap only before attack. Without swapping: Strike+Geography is the *cavalary-must-have*. Geography is primary a cavalary skill, more usefull than for artillery. One hand for snair. Berthier is one of the rare F2p-artillery-cavalary hybrids with geography. And thats his point. Endgame for Non-swappers:Great. All generals are (only) skilled for their role in the storyline. Look at their skills where you get them, in the campaign or conquest. iE: Sebastiani in his role 1806 he is great. That we can buy them, is an extra or cheat for fast rushing ($$), but not necessary in any way. To buy generals to collect, or to build a special historical dream setup, makes for me the most sence. F2P we can earn princess - free. Great

Likely going to get refuted, Berthier is one of the most underrrated 2nd tier general because of his cavalry skill (assuming he is fully upgraded). Kinda expensive doe Is it really worth going through all em trainers

He is imo the best f2p cavalary general. Strike is necessary and Spy is such a great cavalry skill for guards or AC! I only know untrained Sophia and Arnold: 1806 hits Lannes, on high morale, with Assult Art 55 against a VI city (Kaluga) On the same duble Guards Cavalry, untrained Arnold took out costal forts with a single hit (with the +4 sword even sometimes 100+). Sulkowski must be such a monster!

He is the best in his category, The missing gem in my headquarter How is that? I just needed a fourth general for my headquarter to achieve the max-bonus. With Quosdanovith, Arnold and Agha I had to regroup him even into a trainer, but Ferdinando costs only 10π more than the absolute cheapest disgusting general - but he is at least a trainer. Bringing Ferdinando at a decent rank was very very slow!

She performed pretty well as a second infantry general (besides Arnold) and I simply regrouped her into Sophia after getting Lan.

Using Fatima in the campaign openns an additional gaming. - GREAT (with 6 slots) And as I used now the first time Maria, I absolutely agree with Erich von Manstein - Hey Maria is not this bad! Especially for her price! I play the same line up: Arnold, Sophia and Maria but with a different, pure cavalary, setting. I can't complain. Maria: not for End-Game, but too good to leave her unused - better than 90% of the generals - and for free, a why not - saving a lot of π!
