Hello, Everyone.
I have been playing GOG3 for around a month now(not counting my restart). I have since found myself at the very beginning of Pacific '42. My gens are Guderian, Macarthur and the frees. I now have 200 and something medals and have no idea how the *censored* I'm going to grind enough medals to get another decent gen(probably Rommel) without going on an almighty grinding campaign.
So, I have to ask...Is this game grindy?

@vonmanstein77, It isn't grindy, not by a long shot. I have bought 10 generals, that's 7 more than WC4 and about the amount of EW1914. The trick is to stack up rewards like clearing 44 and Africa before pacific 42 so that you can get around 400 medals by clearing that campaign.

If you're smart with your medals and have a good amount of skill and experience in the game, no. If the opposite then, kind of.

Of course, I found out that Kursk is good for grinding. One time got 12 medals.

You really are taking your free gen challenge seriously. I also have a second challenge for you. Once you beat GOG3, I would like you to attempt a speedrun of WC4, no generals.

Nah, part of why a challenge is fun is that you have to enjoy the game. As you can see in my signature, I dislike WC4. It's just not my type of strategy game; I quickly got bored. Besides, I don't think anyone could beat WC4 without generals.

I remember lots of people in the comments section saying that. Also, you said you wanted me to beat the whole game without gens.

The most similar game would be GC:R and the next best comparison is EW6:1914.
Simply move on to Conquest or any mode other than Campaign. You can get all you need without intentionally farming in terms of replaying certain Campaigns or Conquests to grind for medals. With Daily videos, it's easier to get the needed resources.

There's one important difference though... unlike in GCR or EW6 1914 we can't dismiss our generals and that makes our mistakes or better said misjudgments more costly.

In most of previous ET games, buying generals isn't the most costly part, upgrading gens is. But in GoG3 we don't have that feature 😑

I would say it is grindy if you want to perfect clear missions without purchasing anything. Grindy in the sense that knowledge of the topography of the map and the location , type, quantity and behaviour of enemy units is often crucial to win.
I like to play the mission blind once and try to beat it without restarting, then going more tactically in depth. (For a lot of them it is possible on the first try!.) The rest, I have to play them a few thems to learn by experience what to do and not to do.
I think this is a fair amount of grindiness for trying to play on "hard" difficulty. I have not grinded for medals other than United Front which I consider boring and grindy (my opinion.) If the game required grinding to win, as in repeatong the same mission to accumulate medals, I wouldn't play the game. However, if someone wanted to grind to get a new general just for fun I don't see the harm in that.

I think this is probably the least Grindy of all the EasyTech Games. Medal Management to suit your playstyle is probably the most important, followed by Special Forces. I've perfect cleared all the campaigns and it took me about a month and a bit maybe playing an hour or so a day?
You kinda do need to do a bit of the Army Groups and United Fronts to get the Assault Badges though. Especially if you messed up like I did. When I got a III-Sturmtiger and a Max Karl instead of an Elefant. :/
