Darth Vader, so we could have the unit itself upgrade to the next unit in its class? That'd be awesome enough even without a general!!!

Darth Vader, I have been giving this some thought... We can change the layout.xml to where we create an unassign option ( by making the assign button a toggle switch in your roster... with whatever coding they use to reassign a bought skill). Then it is just a matter of going into your roster and clicking on the general...? If we find the hex code that controls the adding on of the general...?

I don't believe it would be in hex code but, in the layout. I would check the layout.xml first before, doing anything else. I have just discovered the true power of the layout file. I will gladly help you with this task!

In light of the glitch I discovered in my Extra Generals mod I think that we may be able to unravel the mystery of assigning generals. I have somehow unlocked the ability to assign the same general to multiple units... if we can figure out how the game attaches a general and counts him as being used... might we be able to reverse engineer an unassign method?

sean1917, do you know how you can disband units in Ew6? What if there was a way to disband the general and use him again. However, if you already found how to add unlimited generals then, we should be fine.

When you get down to the last four generals (20 out of 24) then those remaining generals do not get checked off as used. Weird. So try to hold back one general of the four types: navy, artillery, armor and infantry. Voila!

Can you assign in the original more than 20 gens ? If not, ET reserved just for 20 gens memory, writing to nr21 will have no effect (or crash the game). ET uses always static arrays-sizes. You should test if these generals 21+ work in every aspect, especial during AI-turn, and for buffs.

Any idea where they made their changes? If I can't figure out a way to unassign and reassign my generals then multi-assign is the next best thing. I have been looking at what I modified trying to figure this out.
