1928 Events: Natural Disasters: "First the fires in Madagascar, then the Dust Bowl, now this?!" Yellowstone National Park worker in America There was already a major amount of forest fires in Madagascar, causing the Island to be closed off from all foreign contact for 80 years. This event also sparked António Salazar 's career as a major publicist. Then, starting the dry summer of 1928, large dust storms overtook the Southern Plains of the United States. Affecting parts of Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Utah and Oklahoma the most, the Dust Bowl was caused by poor farming methods by the local farmers, which caused the wind to pick up soil from the ground and blow it around the air. Then Yellowstone national park erupted into a huge explosion. While not being on the massive scale top scientists believed it would have been on, it did obliterate much of western Wyoming, Eastern Montana, and southernIdaho. Ash was blown around the country, even merging into areas of the Dust Bowl creating a strip of land in Utah called "Bowl of Yellowstone Dust". This event also made many Idaho potato farms go out of business due to the immense ash covering the plains. -Areas affected by natural disasters are impassable for ten years except for Madagascar which is impassable for 80 years. The Stock Market Crash "The Berlin and the New York Stock Exchanges seemed to be pretty stable until October 29th; Black Tuesday," American Stock investor in New York On October 29th, 1928, the Berlin and NY Stock exchanges simultaneously collapsed. People using debt to afford luxuries such as washing machines and other new devices caused these markets to crash. As a result, millions of people became unemployed and billions of dollars were lost. -Unemployed Worker Rebels now possible *For clearance, I know the stock exchange collapse occurred in 1929 and that the Dust Bowl didn't begin until the very early 30's, I jut want to accelerate this. Phase starts now gl hf
