Ah yes, were changing for a bit. Maybe others would like to change to South American leaders? I sense a trend... How did your interests of South American leaders start?

Ah yes, were changing for a bit. Maybe others would like to change to South American leaders? I sense a trend... How did your interests of South American leaders start? Well, it all started when I entered the airport for my flight on Friday xD I was bored so I looked up stuff about South American history for a few hours at the airport and later at my uncle's condo in Florida. Looked up some stuff about Chile and Brazil, specifically.

Jean Lannes, Diego Portales was a Chilean military/political leader in the 1830's. In the 1836, he led Chile into war with its neighbor, the Peru-Bolivia Confederation, which threatened Chilean trade power and possibly even Chile's sovereignty as a nation itself. Later Argentina intervened against the Confederation as well. This war would be known as the War of the Confederation. Chilean citizens didn't really understand why they had to go to war with the Confederation, and many even resented Portales for going to war. One day, while Portales was inspecting a military unit in Quillota, he was captured and imprisoned by a rival Chilean military officer. The Chilean military then attempted to engineer a coup against the government by trying to take the major port city of Valparaiso. The government force there was able to resist, however, and the force trying to overthrow the government was repelled in the Battle of Baron. Portales's captors, supporters of the potential coup, then gave the order to murder Portales. Chilean public opinion immediately polarized upon hearing of Portales's death, as many were mistaken in believing that Bolivian Marshal Santa Cruz was responsible for the murder, and most Chileans wanted revenge against the Bolivians for killing Portales. The War of the Confederation was no longer a trade war, it was now a Holy War, with Diego Portales as its martyr. Chile ultimately won the war both on land and at sea, and the Peru-Bolivian Confederation was disestablished due to the peace conditions.

Having looked only briefly at Chile's history, they are too OP. DICE please fix
