I got a message that my computer had malware and it directed me to install Mackeeper. I googled mackeeper and found details that the message I had gotten was a scare ad and mackeeper is no good. Its been a few hours and my computer is working fine so it seems I avoided that scam. Did this happen when you were in our forum or while surfing on the net? Sometimes when you surf on the internet (it can happen on our site too) you can come across malicious ads that are commonly called "redirect ads" they dont infect your pc or devices and they are not scanning anything they simply pop up fake messages or redirect you to other sites to try to trick you into downloading stuff. If you ever get a redirect ad while in our forum please use the [Report ad] found at the bottom of the main page. The report will go directly to the proboards tech support people and they will track and pull the misbehaving ad out of our system. Button at bottom of page:
 It will show a screen like this,listing the ads viewed and time and it will ask you a couple questions like if you were viewing with a mobile or pc and/or using wifi.

Ok,well you already know to never download anything just because a pop up add is telling you "it scanned" your device and you should download something to fix whatever fake problem they are telling you that you have .That trick is one of the most common malicious ad you can find on the net.
Nothing can scan your device unless you specifically gave it permission and allowed it to such as enabling an AV in your own system.
