As I play on Legion mode for the most part once I unlocked it, my tips will be centred around this mode.
Note: These tips are for FTP players who do not have IAP exclusive gens or equipment, as well as the ability to afford and train numerous gold gens.
1. Count the number of enemy ranged gens available.
- For enemies with 7 or less archer / arty gens, they are manageable. This minimises the enemy's ability to unleash volleys on your troops while their melee troops tank dmg.
- For the normal mode, it should be 3-4 at most.
2. Count the number of golden gens and bronze gens present.
- If the enemy deploys more than 2-3 golden gens, avoid them. Gold gens have more or less the best stats with very good skills to boost enemy performance or cripple allied performance.
- If the lineup contains grey gens (not awakened ones), these gens are the weak link due to their rather unimpressive stats.
- You are unlikely to meet an enemy with numerous gold and grey gens. If you do, make the choice based on your calculations of the enemy's strength.
3. Build up your ranged capabilities.
- You'll want around 6 2-hex range archers and 3 arty gens. If you have 3-hex archers, send them in as well.
- This supports (1), but for your faction.
- Move your ranged gens around if needed so that they may be more effective. Eg. Nobunaga Oda targeting hard to defeat or powerful enemy gens and archers with Leadership being used to counter powerful enemies or enemies with Spy.
4. Build up a wide range of melee gens, in terms of specialists and generalists.
- Consider the enemy formation and deploy your gens accordingly to counter or neutralise its strengths as well as target its weaknesses.
- Petain can be used as a filler gen or as a specialised tank.
- 5* Awakened Suriyothai is an Atilla lite who should be used to attack inf gens with Spy or Leadership, especially since she has +80% dmg against inf units.
- Lincoln is a mediocre anti-cav inf gen.
- The list goes on, but this borrows concepts present in (3).
5. Use any means to find reasonable opponents.
- Avoid the strongest enemies and challenge those within your means of defeating.
- Use the 3 daily refreshes, check the silver and bronze enemies as well as check normal arena mode.
Update:
6. Farm and play to beat other post-endgame content. Then, pivot back to Arena.
Although I found a few enemies with Arthur in their lineup, I found that my lineup with 7* awakened and "normal" gens can beat teams with few gold gens (4-5) and slightly more ranged gens (8-9).
We may struggle once more when other players start to catch up or the bots decide to deploy further upgraded gens, but right now, we have a notable advantage.
