I thought I was moving right along until I hit this roadblock, here is my team: Attila - Discovery, braveness 9, cavcom 3 Edward - Discovery, cavcom 6, 2 paladin Saladin - Empire Nobunaga - Discovery, leadership 4, gungnir Li Shimin - Discovery Alexander - Empire
I've got a few more decent gens in reserve too, but this is my top 6 for the mission
I've tried this level a half a dozen times now, slow playing, trying to rush, splitting my generals. It really seems like I should be ready for this one.......... I'm so stumped, please help.

This is wht u should do Put ur highest income princess(es) and infantry princess on the buildings u get in starting. Use ur 3rd princess(healing) on northeast city (the red marked building). Create a single 4 star infantry unit and take it to defend the castle. For rest Create 2 star infantry every move.take them towards the peninsula where opponent Columbus is use it as decoy and siege to block thier attack from behind and capture their buildings. Use ur 3 cavalary and nobunga to clear the army in water towards north.once cleared the cavalary gen with nobunga take him to defeat coloumbus.

Thanks for the advice! I've got 2 paladin items on Edward and Gungnir on Nobunaga, and I've been using Indira and Ayla on the revenue bldgs and Borte on the Infantry bldg.
I'll give this strategy a try and see where I get

IMO, using Gungnir on Saladin is better because Saladin hits rather softly and this is slightly offset by Gungnir. At the point when Spain spams troops to block the way to Tenochtitlan, you need to prioritise capturing the spawn points ASAP. Use your cav gens to thin the enemy horde and inf units / gens to take those points. Here are some available guides: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/5152/aztec-dynasty-2european-war-4.boards.net/thread/5659/stuck-aztec-mission-2And you need to upgrade your gens' skills ASAP. The coming battles are not going to be as easy as they once were. Atilla's relatively higher output and cav abilities must be exploited. Upgrade his Commander skill to lvl 6, or lvl 10 at best. Nobunaga Oda's Leadership should be maxed out because it will seriously cripple the enemy. However, lvl 6 will do if you do not have enough Medals.

Hmm, I will start investing in skills then! Is it recommended to upgrade the skills on "for now" generals? The ones you mentioned are endgame team for sure, but I'm still working on getting the last members of my Cav-Com lineup
Thanks!

How far are you from Gunpowder Age? I think once you reach Gunpowder Age it will be so much easier. I think instead of wasting your time you better do conquest and grinding literature to upgrade your team to gunpowder age. And dont forget to also prepare the medals for the general upgrade (Purple 1200 medals, gold 1500 CMIIW)
I was also in your shoes so i think it would be a waste of time to try and push it through.

So let me give you a complete strategy. I will edit and add the slots here( like u get to choose 6 gens so which slot to equip them in at start) Firstly general equips Atilla: iron plate armour (125 hlth), lucky crown (15 heal),crossbow and boots of theives Saladin: paladin sheild(300 hlth),silver necklace ,serpentine sword(85 dmg), long iron boots(9movement) Edward:knight armour (250hlth) copper pendant, crossbow , boots of 7 movement Nobunga: paladin armour, paladin ring,gungnir,steelboots(8 movement) Li shimin:chain armour, fintlock, 5movement boots and anything left for ring Alexander:plate armour,fintlock,6movemnt boots. Princess: 1)the one with highest income buff (125% in ur case) on the revenue building that u get in start.2)the one with infantry cost buff (isabela)on the barracks. And heal princess on the 4 the objective on north east. There are four objectives 1) protect ur castle: moctezuma, lishimin and Alexander along with a cinquestider and one 4* infantry are enough to defeat enemies that land on ur city. Use moctezuma to keep close to ur castle to heal it and defeat the archers that come from top and the cavalry that land.use lishimin to finish low health units(usually arch).use Alex as decoy and block their tercio while healing from moct. Use the simple units(as mentioned above) to block their way to castle and capture and block tiles. 2)defeat coloumbus: bring your nobunga to coloumbus once the cavalry at sea dies. Keep him close to coloumbus so that he cant attack. Remember not to land or go much north otherwise an infantry gen gets active. Summon swordsmen every turn to land them on their land and capture buildings while surrounding the gens. Once created a strong hold wait a bit to heal and charge li shimin's super. 3) destroy there castle: use ur nobunga, lishimin, and moct to attack their left most wall and enter using infantry units, use these as decoys.use ur arch gens to defeat their units behind walls while focusing li on castle. This is a suicide mission so dont worry or fallback. 4)capture that city on north east: once u deal with enemy at sea on right take all ur cav gens to top right. Dont waste ur commander super until u reach there and then dash across.kill that infant gen and sit saladin on the red marked building.use edward to kill that archer on top right that might attack salain.use attila to capture rhe building on left to the red marked building. Hold on to that peice of land until castle is destroyed and that's it. As for hidden mechs the enemy at sea wont land if u lower there health to 30% or low.and one thing that u might notice is that coloumbus cant chaos u. Orher than that the cavalry at sea seems to have 4 abilities.he chaoses u with a very low chance.(1 in some 76 turns). Rest is luck.hope it helps.
Other than this, an inf comm run is weakest in 3rd and some lvls of 5th era. Cav comm is weakest in 4th era. Arch comm is weakest in some lvls of 5th era. Art comm is weakest in 6th era.

Hmm, I will start investing in skills then! Is it recommended to upgrade the skills on "for now" generals? The ones you mentioned are endgame team for sure, but I'm still working on getting the last members of my Cav-Com lineup Thanks! I suggest Attila: keep commander lvl 6 till gun powder starts then upgrade it to 8 and eventually 10. As for braveness keep it lvl 8 or above and max it before reaching li honzong campaign (dont remember era) Saladin max his logistics as soon as possible Edward max his leadership before reaching stage 3 in legend mode nordic greece(zeus)as for commander keep it lvl six until japan campaign of 6th era. Nobunga dont upgrade it to 5 stars until industrial age and then dash through his upgrades. Max his leadership but dont pay attention to spy until u reach lvl 6 in temple. Li shimin max his stars asap and upgrade logistics only after maxing other gens abilities Alex dont upgrade him more rhan 4 stars and dont spend medals on his abilities. Wht i suggest to add Barbarossa and petain. Use alex only until u get petain than upgrade petain to 6 stars and max his logistics.same with barbarossa, upgrade his leadership to max beofore reaching stage 3 of asgard in legend mode. Make their commander lvl 6 and eventually max it. This is deadly combo and good aid to ur cav comm as it prevents enemy arch gens. Use suriyothai.she id grey and cheap so max her first ability. Then awaken her and max 3rd ability.also this is ur first priority to max at stars. Nelson or pachayuti upon ur budget.

This gives u cav comm with no loop holes as u have so many leadership that opponents archer will suicide just at sight. U have two healing cav (sala and suri) and 2 brave cav ( attila and suri) and three comm(suri att and edw) so bye for now.

Thanks for all the advice everyone!
I did end up beating the level last evening, but didn't get a chance to post until now, here's what I did. I traded Saladin for Barbarossa, since the pesky tercios are cav-resistant, I don't know if it helped much or not because he died fast, but my other guys lived longer. I did end up using 2 revenue princesses from the very start and Borte on the infantry bldg. I got a few lucky hits on Columbus and the sea general with Nobunaga, and used my main team to head towards the N.E., skipping most of the sea battle, while Li & Mocte defended with infantry spam on the coast and around the castle. As soon as the situation eased off around the castle I brought Li & Mocte up the behind the sea team - I captured the upper right and just kept building infantry instead of relying on healing to keep the objective there. Once that was resolved and Li & Mocte arrived I was left with Attila, Nobu & the two reserve, I took them across the top peninsula and bombed into the fort at the top right in a final rush, finished on turn 20 for 3 stars.
As for some other comments - I'll definitely need to get to gunpowder, but I'll need to build up some medal stash as well since I'm a bit depleted right now, so that means more campaigns I guess I definitely see that the mission difficulty has gone up a notch... oof.
As for my full Lineup, I definitely plan on Awakened Suri - those skills look very good. I've read that Blucher is excellent, so I was thinking of trading Sal for him, but I hadn't thought about buying Petain.
A quick question on Awakened while we are on the subject: it sounds like buying regular Suri and upgrading her will carry over when I get the awakened version? I didn't know that
Thanks!

On the awakened generals any upgrades will carry over, and I discovered that you still need to buy them - I didn't have Hua when I unlocked her as I thought I might get her for free, but alas not
