Should i even get an allied general for 1939 scenarios? (Currently grinding for Guderian, already at Operation Weserubung, Case White and Defense of Warsaw).

Tech should resolve your immediate future's obstacles. Quickly clear out the Axis campaigns, the first few are not too hard.

It is possible to complete them without hiring additional generals. But you buy generals to make your life easier. There is no need to overcome artificial difficulties. Buy two good generals and you can feel yourself safe in all modes of the game for a long time to come.

The last two mandatory '39 campaigns for each side were difficult (for me at least). I got Leeb as my 1st general and struggled at Marita until I got Guderian and I was very lucky on Crete. For Taranto I literally returned at '42 and is one of the reasons I got Mountbatten. For Mercury, it isn't very hard (for me), but killing Mountbatten and dealing with the aftermath was probably the trickiest part. EDIT: Despite me getting Mountbatten for Taranto, you should be able to live through 1939 without an Allied general. I would say that the Eastern Front is even easier and you probably need a general at the first Pacific campaigns.

I don't think Operation Typhoon is that hard anymore. I perfect cleared it first try and I think they changed it to give you more turns if your goal is just to clear the mission. I noticed that they improved friendly AI's behaviour too. It is now possible to work in cooperation with our allies. When they just released the game it was a total mess. Especially landings. It was a graveyard of our allies led by AI. Landings are still a mess. In missions like husky, you need to clear out the landing zone or else your allies are not going to do well. Still, I find that allies are actually quite helpful. As an example, in Husky, once you clear out the landing zone Monty&co can basically take the 3 western objectives for you with minimal support. Still, I do not like relying on my allies too often because they still screw up randomly a lot.

Anyways i’m grinding for Guderian. It’s absolutely easy getting medals, might take me like 2 weeks or so.

Shot per shot, he deals the highest damage among any Allied generals. In case you are willing to grind 1 extra week, get Rokossovsky. He can attack multiple times courtesy his Panzer Leader. In case you value (General) slots, and willing to grind 2 extra weeks from Vatutin, buy Montgomery. He is in 3 theaters probably and his damage too, isn't far from these 2 guys. I personally bought Vatutin.

Oh and Vatutin is very slow, but cheap compared to others. Montgomery deals lowest among the 3 and costliest. Rokossovsky is in middle.
Patton? Who is he?
