A couple of things. Yes,bolt-action rifles don't shoot as fast as AR, but they are very dependable, will never jam, and really, in hunting, you don't need a fast reload. Otherwise, you waste ammo on shooting animals that you wouldn't hit, kill, or be able to cut it up for meat. About the only other thing it is good for is hog hunting, when you can pour 5 rounds into a boar charging at you. In addition, most AK and AR ammo is utter crap. Yeah, that is true, AK guns are basically just spray and pray guns. I think the reason why so many people like them is mostly because of how well known they are more than anything, and how cheap they are to produce. If I ever buy a gun I'm probably getting a bolt-action rifle too just because they're more rare and are reliable. The one thing I kind of don't like is their relatively low muzzle velocity |

I swear there isn't anything more satisfying than the smell of black powder smoke. Muzzleloaders are so fun. Completely agreed. One thing I don't understand is why people use AK/AR guns. They don't have the inherent beauty of a bolt-action rifle, the lightweight versatility of a shotgun, or the sheer awesomeness of a muzzleloader. They don't even have the convenience of a pistol. Just bad guns unless you are killing people IMO. In addition, they jam easily, kick hard, and are generally completely inferior to an actual rifle. "Tell me you're not a gun owner without telling me you're not a gun owner" Assault weapons are prolific precisely because they are superior to what you describe as an "actual rifle". Besides the fact the AK and the AR platforms are both, in fact, rifles (AR even having it in the name, ArmaLite Rifle), the inherit "beauty" of a weapon, has nothing to do with its efficacy, and I don't even want to comment on the "versatility" of a shotgun, a weapon which is decidedly among the least versatile firearms. Jams on assault weapons are typically fairly straightforward to clear, although only slightly more common due to the addition of more moving parts than a bolt action weapon. As for kick, are you really saying they kick harder than a shotgun? Or a muzzleloader? The only weapon that might have less of a kick is like... a .22 rifle. I'd like to hear your explanation on the "general inferiority" of these weapons. They're rugged, strong, and incredibly versatile. I'm actually quite surprised, I'm a gunsmith and I've never heard anyone make these comments before. |

Also, going to have to add, an assault weapon jams, and you have to take a minute to remove the round and clean the weapon
A muzzleloader jams, explodes, and you have shrapnel stuck in your eye, cheek, neck and shoulder lol
