My allies suck and I have to capture an easy town when no one is there. 1950 & 1960 Australia always advance to Thailand but they always fail |

Ouch... Try again later with some techs upgraded, like air tech with one extra range at 7 hexes, and artillery, tank, infantry at troop level 2. It will definitely help out with faster conquests.
My own first time, I failed miserably turn-wise -- something like 130 or 140 turns with Italy. My second win in 1939 was a lot faster as Japan in 64 turns, then I did a little better as Hungary later.

I've noticed that almost all of your allies suck. If you don't actively aid them, then they are liable to get conquered. There are a few exception, of course, like Japan during the 1939 and 1943 era's or sometimes Egypt during the 1950s and 1960s.

  This time was better. Germany defeated gb (Europe) with only a little help from me and i upgraded some techs |
