But you have to attack someone to refill it... I'll do some tests on him. Cavalry can't really kill easily against harder opponents, so alex and his increased rage regen would be great for proccing aegis early. Although this is only for Arena, and it's probably easier to just refresh enemies, so i'll see. I'll still invest in arena after all of pve is handled,in case they expand on the pvp aspect more. For pve,it's all about that leadership.

Oh, I have found a better candidate! Suleiman the Magnificent is great to take this position. Best defence in the game, damage reduction by 40%, rumor... A lot of investments though.

I think he could. But Charlemagne is funnier resilient to both archers and artillery,so he probably would be the better center. I would eventually invest in Charlemagne just to see how good he is when given the investment. It's also annoying how i now need another artillery general, cleo was doing great, until even she can't take out 2 castles with massive hp.

I'n thinking of just going for Khalid,Cleo and Bismarck in the mean time. I don't think it's worth spending a lot of medals for li shimin, his medal cost slows down progress, medals which could have been spent of skill upgrades like leadership and commander skills. Unless he's so good that he's necessary for some missions,i won't get him until the only thing i'm optimizing for is arena.

I completed the game on one occasion with Khalid and Bismarck, and with Khalid and Heihachiro on another. LiShimin has one serious advantage though... He can be our sole Artillery general most of the time. Yet, as I said, he can be replaced with other generals with good results. Yet, again, as I said earlier, Commander skill is of paramount importance late in the game, so, make sure that you have either Khalid or Heihachiro at some point.

Same with Blucher. If there are cheaper alternatives that work, then why bother with the expensive ones? It doesn't help that skill level also matter a lot, and their upgrade costs are really high. I really can't justify buying gold generals, maybe aside from Caesar in early game. If Bismarck didn't exist, then i would have considered buying him. But i'm saving medals to upgrade Suri and jhansi, and max out my commander and leadership skills, so even in that alternate scenario,i would skip buying Li Shimin.

It seems that there's another difficulty spike in the German empire due to the number of objectives needed to defeat. Having 2 artillery general will definitely help moving forward.

In Industrial age campaigns there are definitely several missions when at least two Artillery generals are really helpful. And in some hard mode campaigns or Empire/Asgard/Temple missions even three of them won't hurt.
