Allies 1939 you have to be smart or else your generals will get slaughtered. I tested by moving Guderian towards the main German force and he was destroyed the very next turn. The only type of general I usually use is air general, unless I was in the mopping up phase. Most other generals doesn't justify their use during the start and midgame of most conquest, when the enemy have the force and the money, and they can actually spam air force and missile on your generals.

True but Air generals aren't that useful for starters for lack of money.

There's not that much missle sites in 1943 and none in 1939, so don't worry too much about it. Air strikes can be weakened by anti-air defenses quite effectively. It really does makes a difference.

Missiles are also very ineffective unless using missiles with a nuke.

I found that some cities during the World War II scenarios could easily fall early on, though, when using air support. You have to remember that they AI doesn't always build defenses on said cities, either because their money is going elsewhere or they just don't care. This also works for the Cold War era, too.
