There are a few points regarding naval battle in this game that's just kindda weird, hence why I would like to discuss some of it with you all.
First things first, in the tutorial it is implied that cav unit will have their attack halved on naval battle, if we don't give this cav unit any wargear ship and simply have them with the default Transport ship (-50% dmg) does that mean their attack goes to only 25% ?
Secondly in the description it is said that dromon has the ability to retain the originals attack of unit in naval battle, does this mean the only way for cav to be viable in naval is through dromon? Or because some other reason/ mechanic cav is still unviable?
Third, viking longship is kindda useless in naval to naval combat right? Or are there any reason to use them other than to bombard city?
Fourth, what is the best war gear for non cav unit in naval battle? Higher dmg% from 2-15% doesn't seems to matter a lot weirdly, so whats the point of investing on like manilla galleon and stuff, I'm curious on your guys opinion.
Fifth, charge doesn't matter in naval, so are archer is the favorite choice?
Sixth, if we already have a decent roster of general that we're happy, and we have excess medal, does investing on multiple naval general worth it?

I believe it means that there is no debuff, but that's my interpretation (my Cnut can hit 600 with it, which is usually his damage when not charging). 4. I would say the Dromon still, it has a fire chance and good damage. Maybe the Carrack if it retained the original damage (it doesn't IIRC). 5. I would say that melee infantry is, there is a poll about it, plus your main naval generals (Cnut, Hardrada, Halfdan Ragnarsson, William Iron Arm/Ivar [maybe]) are infantry. 6. You probably will have a hybrid general that, when paired with the Dromon, will carry you through naval battles, like Cnut or Hardrada. Because of abundant medals, you can always invest in the Viking Naval Bond.

A ranged hero with the same active skill of Nur Ad Din or Robin Hood (that red arrow) can deal more damage even in naval battle (cuz the attack is also ranged). So you can compensate the navigator skill and just ignore it. With Viking ship and Cnut’s bond you can attack many times and this is just like what happens with Rhinoceros/forced march/desperate wager/pathfinder and the other boot active skill of Aetius.

Viking also decrease the attack in naval by 15% no? Is it still worth it?

Ah I see, my unit is mostly cav so I'm really desperate to make them work, but it seems it's still difficult to asses their viability even with dromon. Viking bond, yeah that makes sense actually i didn't realized it, guess I know I'll be buying cnut next Fire chance for dromon hmm... I need to test this, i never realized that fire make any sort of different. Thx bro, nice insight

I recommend getting Cnut regardless, he pulls his weight on sea and at land.
