So first let's talk about their legion effect, which is "Guardians". I could see this ability being potentially really good, however it's pretty niche and not as constant as the Teutonic knight bonus which gives damage reduction.

How good is this unit compared to Teutonics? It seems like (as a F2P) I should just exchange all of the fragments we get from Baldwin Hero Legend for Teutonic knights instead...

Teutons. yuanzhong's informative thread pretty much cemented them as the best Cav in the game with a possible exception of Templars.
