Actually it may be a point when I disagree with andrei to a certain extent 
Usually it is true, IAP generals and other in-game purchases can help to save time in ET games. But EW7 is somewhat different in this respect. The more generals, units and weapons a player has, the stronger is the pain in the neck Yes, access to all rewards may make life easier sometimes, but it doesn't solve all problems. Besides, we don't know yet, whether it is really worth it or the game can be easily completed with limited resources. So, it well may be, that upgrading all these innumerable units is just a matter of pride or interest, and without any practical value 🤔
Plus, the we simply don't know what is the upper limit of unit's level. Just imagine we have to upgrade Mamlukes, Templars etc. up to lvl 20-25! It could be a straw that broke the camel's back.
