Nah Ew7 ain't that friendly to beginners. The first few campaigns aren't that easy to complete for beginners, preventing them from getting meta and op gens like Massena, Karl, Murat, etc. This makes most player quit and prevent people from even enjoying the game to the fullest extent. However, the first of few campaigns of Ew7 are relatively easy and allow you to work out the game mechanics first and get some good gens like Roland. This is all to prepare you for harder campaigns. Although the conquests are easy, but this allows for much more challenges and speed runs. Although, normal campaigns aren't that hard, players can truly have a challenge in some of the harder campaigns in game. This game is much more friendly for newcomers to the ET franchise to handle and learn the rope in comparison to Ew6 1804, which is designed for hardcore Wc4 and Ew4 veterans. If I can beat the first campaign in one day and the next two in a week (which I did on my second run), it's not terrible. WC4 is too hard, EW7 is too easy. Well I mean I prefer Ew6 1914's difficulty level compared to Ew6 1804. I think Ew7 is designed in mind for new players. Its not horribly hard or grindy. Your whole point was that you felt the game was too complex. You do realize that the reason many people quit in the middle of some ET games is because of how hard it is to progress. Ofc to people like us Ew6 1804 and Wc4 are hard but manageable. However, you must keep in mind for new players that these games are extordinarily hard to even start. Many don't understand the concept of grinding until much later. In comparison EW7 is much more beginner friendly. The mechanics aren't that hard, I think you are confusing complexity with content, because contentwise Ew7 is much more extensive. I think Ew7 is the better of the two because it allows for early development in the first few campaign chapters. They give you resources and you receive daily resources too. This gives you a chance to adapt and prepare for harder hard level chapters and treasure levels. To complete these harder levels tactics and grinding is required. In comparison, 1804: Napoleon is much harder for a new player who has never played the franchise and know how hard the games are. The first chapter is easy, but you won't nearly have the resources or the good gens when you get to harder conquests and campaigns. This gives no chances for new players to adapt because they are clueless on how to. This causes many new players to straight up quit.

Chess is hard to master, does that make it bad? I'm not confusing complexity with content, I'm just saying that EW7 is confusing and having more content Leads to complexity. Daily resources were just doubled in EW6 too to make it not as hard. You can now get 90 medals per day + 50 from a Netherlands conquest, which can get you Murat in 20 days if you keep it up. If you want to play a truly extremely hard game where you have to grind, play EW4.

If you want to play a truly extremely hard game where you have to grind, play EW4. You must realize that every game ET game is confusing and complex. So EW7 isn't the only game. The first ET game I played was Wc4, I foolishly went in there and thought it would be a blast. However, I was wrong, terribly wrong. The game was by far one of the most complex stratergy games I've ever played. Sure after restarting cloud save two times I managed to beat the game. However, it was still difficult. My point is that every ET game is complex no matter what for the your average Joe. However, for veteran players who are more accustomed to previous games of course EW7 is gonna be complex. Initially I found it complex too as the mobility and morale system was changed. The average Joe would honestly find both games just as complex. If you think the game is easy, that is because of the updates. The updates allow the players to grow their amount of medals and complete conquests after they complete all campaigns before an update. This makes the game very easy now. To compare any ET games to chess is just outright unrealistic. Rather, ET games are more similar to tabletop games like Warhammer 40k where you have to obtain pieces and units to experience its true beauty and fun. EW6 1804 is very hard to get gens for new players. Without any good gens, realistically players cannot have a full experience of the game. Plus most people don't want to spend time to complete Netherlands conquest, even auto able takes time. It is hard for many new players in the ET franchise to even have a chance to experience the full beauty of Ew6:1804. However, Ew7 does a much better job at that, it allows you to get good gens quicker, which allows you to experience the game to its fullest. Plus not all levels are easy, like the House of Normandy hard or any hard campaigns after it commonly challenge players. So EW7 is much better for new players, and gives them a much better chance to experience the full beauty of the game. In comparison, Ew6:1804 is for hardcore ET players who are able to experience its full beauty much more easily.

Admittedly I'm interested in the Napoleonic Wars, but mostly because of EW6. WC4 is confusing, I agree. But EW6 is not nearly as hard. And even at the start we had Auto-Sardinia. Grinding levels is easy and for gold just do daily missions.

I think this game has too many mechanics to be fun. I think EW6 is better. Anyone else has thoughts? I wouldnt really call it complex mechanics, just a lot of features and resources rather
