I did use coastal artilleries as distractions. It was cheap in gold which RAs really eats a lot. I prefer to put my cmdrs on the RAs because if they get hit back once a while, their ability to bombard decreases. Try Japan/Spain/UK as those are a lot easier. *sigh* I tried following the Japan guide vs Aliens... didn't get too far very well. The aliens easily turned the campaign around against me on turn 7. Retried, did well until turn 9, 3rd try, turn 8. I'm now trying out UK 1975 (but not following the bad idea about aircraft carriers, it's best to use plenty of rockets)

Please note that I killed an UFO coming from Canada, a pair came from there. The one still alive just wants to sit down on my oil rig ao it hasn't attacked yet. I'm sending a rocket from Ireland to UK atm out of range of the sleeping UFO. Recently, I took Birmingham (the unnamed city) but lost it last turn. The UFO is almost dead, so that's not too terrible. The alien base was killed while I was holding Manchester City. I had killed about 4 UFOs and 1 Carrier ao far I believe. Turn #22 as of now in the screenshot. Problem is... two healthy carriers are attacking Manchester and there's one UFO coming into range next turn. I don't think the defender's HP will hold up for turn #23 to come by. I'm going to be REKT.

After capturing Tokyo (turn 7 or so), a steady stream of UFO and Carriers are coming from America. I tried to bait the aliens to Australia but my units are too slow. In China, I could already see a horde of UFO ready to torn me into pieces. I gave up and start derping back in 1939 and Korean War to get industry.

PMI paras are great, as well. The aliens don't protect most of their cities, so it's really easy to take them:P
