Since red gems are so uncommon and relatively hard to get and since they are used to acquire such excellent skills for cavalry and infantry as Cavalry tactician and Infantry tactician (and Rapid march as well), I think the best practical choice for archers is to use all yellow gems.. Your logic is correct and there is nothing to add or take away. The game forces us to use a large number of generals, so I think it's best to have as many strong generals as possible, rather than making 2 or 3 OPs while the rest suffer from lack of resources. Since I didn't know what to do with the green gems because they don't fit into most good combos, I decided to make defensive monsters from Belisirius  The only one decent combination with green gems included is Charging Cavalry Expert, I believe. Of course, with high level Templars it is a bit outdated, but for Melee cavalry generals it is still a good skill to add. |

kingbutawl , I tested this combination, it seems to me that 3 red and 3 yellow gems are the best combination. I don't have 6 yellow lvl3, so I can't test it unfortunately.    Your Timur is fierce! But I can’t compare our 2 legions since you have better units than mine. I will copy your configuration and make a test to prove you are right. kingbutawl Very close results, the 3+3 combination worked best for me because I got a 5% bonus for Mongolian Raiders. It's a shame that IBC requires such a stupid combination, it's not worth making. The combination for MA is not so bad.

The combination for MA is not so bad. Unfortunately in the “full yellow” setup I posted a screenshot where only 1 unit dodged (instead of 3 dodges like in the first setup). I guess the only benefit from a full yellow gems setup is that little more defence points you get by archer points, contrarily to raw damage increasing. Your mongol rider’s bonus is just “top shelf” making this unit much closer to MA and IBC. |
