today both templars and chinese jet black cav are on sale. question to advanced players who have jet black charge cav. Are you using them in all kinds of legion setups for the chance to move and attack twice or only for cav gens? for example with outburst you could almost guarantee hadrada el cid or beowolf to move 2 fields and attack twice with a setup of: jetblack,2 varangian any of you currently using this? please come back to me on success and efficency.  |

I think it could work for El Cid if Rapid march unlocked through gems. With a Nordic helmet he has Outburst on 2 turns cooldown, but he needs higher speed than 9, imo. With Rapid march unlocked the speed of his legion will be 11 with Jet Black cavalry, one Mongolian Raider and one Varangian in it.

I think it could work for El Cid if Rapid march unlocked through gems. With a Nordic helmet he has Outburst on 2 turns cooldown, but he needs higher speed than 9, imo. With Rapid march unlocked the speed of his legion will be 11 with Jet Black cavalry, one Mongolian Raider and one Varangian in it. i can not give him rapid march. but i do think 9 speed is enough. 8 to move and 1 to attack usually works except if it is 2 mountaintiles. relying on outburst and black cav to get that 2nd attack. whole theory actually kinda is, that exactly bc i put the cav there it "should work" that i use a non-cav general with only 9 speed and still be op. your setup would be awesome though  |

I mean, after seeing this, I wont suggest buying either.
I think you're better off buying 120 mercenary orders instead and have spare medals. Keep those troops you like/use, scrap the rest. With that scrap, exchange for whichever troop you want.
The discount on units its just a vague 10%, while on Mercenary Orders its 5 times more.
Now, about the troops themselves... both are rock solid, so you won't go wrong either way. Focus first on maxing one (whichever you have higher level) and when its almost maxed, its when you switch to focusing another.
But maybe next update brings some more troops which can contest Templar's podium, where they've been since the release version.

update on some playing in Hero legends with lvl 7 jet black. inf gens with 1 jet black can move and crripple 2 legions, instead of oneshoting only 1. pros 2 legions crippled. cons less actual dmg output bc still inf skilled gens, cav might die soon depending on setup. so just as expected actually. and i liked it very much though. i will play the next expedition like this and see how it feels. i still have my cloud save just in case for thousands of medals back. |

oh yeah he is! there was no doubt there, bc the other factors are no problem there. jet black safely hidden behind high lvl noble cav. his cav points and skills all scaling with the unit. and as you say that active complementing the attack again legion effect is awesome. |

update on playing lvl 7 jet black in expedition. view things to note: my cloud save is occupied so i couldnt reroll opponents. stage 2 rly sucked with 4 of 5 very high enemies close to 100k and full iaps. 3rd was kinda fine only last one 130k. according to full team ranking i lost 20k points with the new setup of exchanging lvl 14 varangians and a couple noble cav with the fresh lvl 7 jet black. I overall had a HARDER time playing than before. i had to think even more about movement, but i like that anyway. just took longer. struggle: i had to use 2 tents in stage 2 already and a 3rd in stage 3. bad as i can finish without any usually. (with reroll though) used 2 baldwin and 1 nevsky i retreated and restarted twice against full iaps legions. i dont usually make mistakes big enough to warrant retreat. excuses: less practice with new setup? removing of a defensive unit and going for a triple cav setup for baldwin and nevsky instead. probable real reason: yes, you also need defensive stuff not just smash. jet + varangians inf gens were very fragile. lots of antonina heal reset going to them to maintain 3 units. el cid nonetheless lost his cav early on, and i didnt want to sacrafice him just to tent heal him, so i failed on that outburst utilization idea :S. basil was grinding enemies like crazy till the end! great pleasure to play. jet + noble, smooth and very nice to play. nevsky was awesome. lack of his def resulted in 1 death and fully crippled in last game. glass canon style. jet blacks skill UTTERLY USESLESS on plain tiles bc full cav legion moves attacks twice already. all other tile HUGHE mobility flexibility though, resulting in less pressure on baldwin to get cav gens in range for double attack. anyway. i think i keep them? was more fun in HL though than in expedition wow this is loooong. you actually read all this? good job, you get star!
