Just unlocked his item. Gives dmg reduction in addition to capability, which I think is the best combination for naval units since they are harder to heal (damage buff would be good too, but then you would have to use more war drums).
With very brief test he seems to do more damage than my Halfan without his rage. Halfdan has around 100 capability and the axe that gives +1 lvl to master of assault (though I don't know if said skill has any effect on sea, can someone tell me?). Giovanni has only 70 cap and +1lvl to ranged tac.
I actually like naval gens, but now I might have a bit too many for their rare usage. The three vikings are my go-to becouse of their bond (if needed that many, also Ivar has gem-added navigator, both he and Halfdan have dmg-reduction items, Ottos and Wallaces), otherwise Giovanni could rise to top2 now, with Cnut.
Harald has useless skill on sea and no unique, so worst of them five. Good enough conquest naval gen.
