I might play like that later, but I do like going for low turn counts anyway since it gives me something to strive for even if I have a completely winning position.
Admittedly, doing that in like 1 and a half hour is pretty enticing.

Just test it, you'll see. The S rank is given incredibly generously. Sometimes I have conquered half the map at turn 30, press the AI button and AI would drag it out until turn 90, 276k points. I am not familiar with uploading screenshots here, but just to give you an idea about how score is calculated here are some values from my "battle report" right now (I finish almost everything using AI):
BO denotes Battles in Owari and AU Armed Unification
Turn 90 - 276k - AU
Turn 69 - 294k - AU Turn 85 - 283k - BO Turn 69 - 310k - AU Turn 63 - 329k - AU Turn 72 - 289k - BO
Not exactly the way if you wanna go for turn records but if you just wanna farm conquests quickly using AI at an "AI-able position" is definitely the way to go. Each challenge conquest takes about 1h30 for me now. There is absolutely no danger to fall to A rank. Do you aim to reach Zenith to deploy more generals before switching it to auto mode? And which of the princesseses do you use - Kichyo or Yoshihime? I think these two penalties have to be minimized: level of AI units and damage dealt. Am I right? And since Mobility doesn't play any significant role in AI strategy we should choose other buffs, I suppose And, as I see, the number of killed enemies is still a decisive factor to get a high score, as it was the case in EW7. Therefore S rank is indeed almost guaranteed on auto.

I usually reach early Formidable minimum before I go auto. I use princess Izumo most of the time now. I know I argued in favour of Kichyo for endgame a long time, but I noticed that I forgot to switch most of the time and it really didnt matter But Izumo/Oichi is important for early game knowledge. In general, many things I said earlier about spamming 1 stack elite units isnt necessary anymore, since my generals got much stronger in the meantime and roads were invented. Its mostly pure blitzkrieg, sprinting OP gens to the cities with a couple Ashigaru (they have 2 jobs: 1. capture the city and hold and 2. prevent enemy from blocking paths), then rushing to the next without any time loss. However, I still go for tavern cost and damage dealt. Basically, my start is always the same: Turn 1 Masamune with free recruit, turn 2 Otomo Sorin on DoP, turn 3 Motonari. Then just pump out one gen whenever you have the resources. I didnt record the exact times, but I guess on turn 20 to 25 latest I have my top 15 tavern gens on the field. Just remember to always upgrade colleges and build barracks on the border to Ashigaru for support. As for AI specifically, you mostly want a board that has at least half of the map conquered (it mostly depends on economy, so walled cities are gonna count more) and at most 2 open expansion routes. The earliest time when these two conditions are met is usually a time for a safe win imo. But you'll develop a good feeling once you start integrate AI in your play and experiment with it, you can also do a mix like move all important units manually first (maybe you are on verge of killing a big clan that still has many units left but only one city, there manual play is still advised). Or sth like pausing AI after 10 turns and spend the revenue to subjugate a big enemy first, then continue with AI and so on. There are endless possibilities
If you are new to AI, I suggest starting with playing a bit longer manually first and only use AI when it really feels safe. Aim for sth like 2h or 2h30 first. When it felt like an overkill, next time use it a bit earlier and gradually decrease the time As with everything, you will learn all the nuances, all the strengths and weaknesses of AI with some practice.

It kind of isn’t. I kinda think that going out and fighting like 90% of the map is actually faster since conquest is usually much cheaper than allying/subjugating. Though that’s harder and takes more effort to do. I always kill Ashikaga. I also only recommend doing the normal victory conditions rather than completing a whole conquest on normal mode since there’s no rewards for doing that beyond the S-rank achievement. And you can complete that in challenge mode. And challenge mode is kinda… wild. Not exactly hard but considerably more complicated. It is faster in terms of turns, but not in terms of time spent. By using some diplomacy we can avoid quite a lot of micromanagement actions that are needed to conquer a clan. After conquering half of the map I usually stop and pay tributes, so that I can pay my attention elsewhere. It's just paying tributes and pressing "end of turn" button. Nowadays conquests take too much time to play them with 100% attention all the time. I am still hesitating to switch it on auto in challenge conquests. Though, perhaps it is possible to do at some point, but there is always a risk we get A rank instead of S, missing thus Achievment rewards. Time spent is also my primary concern since I run challenge conquests on my laptop where the game doesn't crash but I don't want the device to be occupied with GCS for several hours. I plan to get the broken blade rewards and then a few of the unit and equipment upgrade materials and then leave it at that. As SolidLight said ages ago the tipping point in our favor happens probably somewhere before turn 15, the rest is just how to efficiently carry home our rewards:
Good that there is hope for strategies based on more allies. Currently, I'm experimenting with initial diplomacy penalty and decline per turn settings. Thanks to Izumo, the -20 & -7/turn is an alternative to -40 and -5/turn because sometimes we can keep and build on existing passage agreements.

My first "auto" attempt . Not as impressive as mentioned above. Perhaps I switched over to auto mode too early. But, hey, it is still S rank My advice: don't let a single enemy town alive on the side of the map you consider to be safe. I left one small town of Suzuki surrounded by 5 of my generals and to my surprise Suzuki were annihilated 100 turns later. Yet, it is a huge time-saver anyway. With some practice...

Congrats Yes, this is exactly the situation I meant where you could move only those 5 generals at the beginning of each turn manually, then let the AI move the remaining 95 Until Suzuki is annihilated

Yet, I have to say that AI is persistent enough and slowly but surely leads its troops to victory.

jonblendIt may sound counterintuitive but don't trade any item for your bb immidietly. It is tempting to complete Resilience set, for example, but I believe it is more profitable to buy Magatama every week and Iron plate (if you don't sweep Shimazu's chapter in the library) when needed. Silk is also a valuable material, but probably you farm Chosokabe's chapter regularly to get it. The point is to upgrade your green generals as soon as possible to 6* first and to upgrade the items you already have. In the long run it is more profitable than completing a single of the existing f2p sets.

If you havent found out already, you will find out pretty quickly that AI is particularly powerful when there is only one expansion route left. If you wanna see how such an ideal scenario looks like, you can try to play with one of the three powers on that island in Armed Unification: One of Kono, Ichijo or Chosokabe. Take the island quickly, then cross the water to the east and take southwest of Honshu quickly, where there is a high density of walled cities, kinda like Europe of WC4, then move send your quickest and best generals northwest to kill your way up to Mori. You will have a huge economy by that point and only the East left, which is kinda like the dream scenario for AI. The AI will be able to take the entire East for you.
And I believe knowing what the dream scenario is important because.. well it helps you to create your own dream scenario for the other factions

With most of Battles in Owari and Armed Unification untouched (and a third conquest about to be released), I still have some sources left but I think I'll wait for the update before spending them on any of the yellow horses. It takes an ungodly of these materials to unlock all the relevant +1 skills and the stat boni would enhance Kami and overall performance.

But though some of them have generous rewards including materials, the amount of Iron plate, for example, we'll get in total is fairly limited. Materials are the only one serious stumbling block in the game so far. Especially particular kinds of them: Iron plate and Silk.

New section of the library is up, now containing the Sekigahara campaign! Honestly for such an important battle in Japanese history and culture it sure was over so fast... Anyway, we're almost at the end, you got this!
