Hey, just a quick question. I've recently unlocked Chennault and I'm torn between inspiration and technology expert for his final slot. I want him to be a damage focused air-general; but I have no clue if inspiration even works with air attacks. Has anyone experimented around?
Thanks for reading ^-^

Inspiration doesn't work on air. Inspiration effects direct damage, along with skills like explosion. Air strikes are only effect by air stairs, air force leader, and carpet bombing.

Does Rumor work during air attacks?

Unfortunately no I believe the only two/three skills that affect air are airforce leader, carpet bombing, and unique skills from specific generals

*Auto Corrected*. I should have asked/looked it up before i bought but i really think ET should have worded that. Instead they put Explosives on Dowding which mislead me even more. Anyway, does it at least work on a carrier? Like does it not work bc its a plane or because „air-raiding“ is not „attacking“ in the sense that it does not consume an attack action (as it would on a carrier)?

Wrong again The only one skill, I think, that is useful to some extent on carriers in comparison to land airfields is Ace Forces. But since it does affect Naval sats not those of Aviation it is of limited value as well. Only AL and Carpet bombings do matter. And, of course, unique skills of Air generals, such as Chennault's for example.

Sailor and Fleet Leader would like to know your location Sailor, Fleet Leader and Rumor are good additional skills for elite units - Akagi and Enterprise. On normal carriers they are significantly less valuable. But it is fine to build up an Air general for these two elite carriers. Provided you can afford it I personally will purchase Halsey instead.

Yes, the best f2p carrier gen in the game. Fletcher and Nimitz fight over second place, but they don't know the real 2nd option is Mountbatten

That's what grinding is for - saving enough medals to be able to afford Yamamoto who can choose two survivability skills in addition to both the air skills. Is it worth it? Probably not, considering Halsey can get the job done just as well for significantly cheaper, only sacrificing the sixth air star and Early Warning since no way am I having a carrier general not have Airforce Leader. But will I get Yamamoto? Yeah probably
Mountbatten would be a good meme air general, but no matter how hard I try I can't see him performing that well. He's got the survivability down but lacks the damage due to lackluster air stars and room for only Airforce Leader or Carpet Bombing (Fletcher struggles with this too, but at least his stars look better for significantly less). Maybe if I have nothing better to do I'll make him a carrier general for fun.
Unironically Yamaguchi makes an amazing carrier general like what Dorado St. Sebastian argues, with potential even greater than Yamamoto, but the question is do you really want to sacrifice his ability on battleships to give him Carpet Bombing and place him on Enty?

I've used Guchi as an air gen more than a navy gen, and he's strong enough to sacrifice insp or explo or sailor or whatever for carpet bombing. However, I disagree Moto being a carrier gen, as I see more use as an arty air hybrid, the best hybrid in the game imo. The YDE always looks for things that goes against the mold to bring a unique look on things. WC4 has grown stale and boring, and needs a bit of spice.

Very true, I can see Yamamoto being used as an air/arty hybrid due to explosives. Very unfortunate it does not affect air attacks, but so it goes...

A long time ago, I was intrigued by your suggestion to put 2 resource skills on Yamamoto instead of the then common fleet leader+rumor And that's still how I use my dedicated air generals today. Thanks to swift ribbons, 21-24 mobility is easily possible on motorized inf, giving them the ability to go where they are needed without loss of the additional income.
