So, I want to buy A paid general. Which one is most effective in campaigns? And how and when should I use them?

I'ma refer you to Manstein...For no particular reason either (totally not pandering to the almighty destroyer of worlds). I'm not kidding either XD This guy completely slaughtered Russia and China all by himself during my 1943 Egyptian conquest. Granted he was on one of those super tanks, but still.

Mainstein
I have him, and not only is he the master of tanks, but he is also better in artillery than Zhukov ( Artillery 4, Mobility 4, Plain 4, Defence 3, Explosive 3 > Artillery 5, Mobility 3, Barrage 4, Ace 4) Defense 4)

Hmm... oh well... Yeah Govorov is the drooling dream of artillery generals (if you don't plan to march him all the way from Europe to Japan or the vice versa) |

Get Erich von Manstein as he is the best of paid generals as you can use him as arty or armored general and he is OP in both(just remember that there is no such thing as OP in this game(except for aliens))  |

I also suggest Manstein. However, if you were to get Eisenhower he replaces Yamamoto/Goring nicely.
